Hi everyone...

I hope everyone's doing good. I've been avoiding this forum for a few weeks now. The reason is, I've been tapering prednisone...and I've had a few blips along the way, but have managed to get down to 5mg. Anyways, I kept reading so many stories on here about having such a hard time getting off that is was scaring the crap out of me. As much as I love this place and all of you for your ideas and support, I just thought I had to do this on my own, without reading those. I find stress really sets me off, and I couldn't keep thinking about it.
I will admit, that as I'm tapering, there is definetly a change, and the odd bad day now. Some of the gurgling is back and my "guts" are pretty tender when exercising and sitting in certain positions. I'm hoping that will pass with time. So far, only 3 times I've had D since I've been under 20mg for 3 weeks. I'm thinking that's not too bad....although I'm still really new and not sure what's good or bad.
Anyways..just wanted to check in...hope everyones well....and fingers crossed...5mg to go ... that I keep improving....w/o pred that is. I'm a bit nervous to get all the way off...since I'm already not feeling as good as when I was on 50mg, but I guess that's to be expected. I feel good enough (right now anyways) to keep tapering. Wish me luck :)

Good to hear from you ~ The message board has affected my thinking about many things too. Mostly for the good, but I think I have also tried some things that weren't for me and made it worse! Oh well.
That is pretty good results with the prednisone, now you know what to expect and it won't be so scary.

I agree...the forum has helped me tremendously. I just had to stay away from the crazy scary stories about not being able to get off pred....I'm almost there!!!!

Keep in mind, alot of the posts you'll see are from people who are having difficulties so the perception can easily be worse than reality. I've actually had pretty good luck with pred. The last time I had a short course for a minor flare, it was a godsend and I had no problems getting off it quickly. From your signature, it appears you're doing all the right things to help support your healing in conjunction with the meds.

Maintenance dose sulfasalazine. Probiotics, l-glutamine, vitamin D and fish oil caps. George's aloe vera juice. Oregano oil antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal. Mostly grain-free and dairy-free diet. Long-term remission with only minor blips.

Glad to hear your taper is going well! I can't for the life of me seem to drop below 20mg. I've made it to 17.5 before i started having issues. How much did you taper at a time if you don't mind me asking? I'm parinoid now because i just started a new job. Tapering seems to be out of the questions for the moment.
