Please look into pelvic floor dysfuntion... The book Headace in the Pelvis provides a wealth of information. There are also excellent pelvic floor PTs in different parts of the country. I began suffering from tailbone, hip, rectal and some groin pain for the last six months and have so far had pelvic floor PT, an angoigraphy MRI that showed a completely unexpected acetabular labral tear/detachment in my right hip; I will most likely need arthroscopic surgery to repair this and there is 50/50 chance the tear is causing the rectal and tailbone pain which would be a blessing. I am currently undergoing spinal epidurals in the L3-S1 areas, just had L5/S1 done yesterday...I also have some nerve compression/degeneration in those discs and was told L3 and L4 can cause pain in the thigh and or hip. Unfortunately this pelvic floor stuff has caused me to get levator ani which causes painful spasms in the rectum and groin, My pudendal nerve is also getting compressed due to the spasms which causes terrible burning in my rectum...thank the Good Lord my UC has been quiet throughout this entire ordeal and I am most grateful for that. Please check out pelvic floor issues; in your case it sounds like it could possibly be piriformis syndrome. If muscle relaxers and heat help it most likely is muscular in nature. Hope this helps
Dx'd with moderate Pancolits 05/07 better with Pentasa and Cortifoam.
I also take Probiotics, Curcumin, Benefiber and cannot tolerate
