Hi. I'm just wondering if Oxford covers this product if a prescription is written by a doctor.
Diagnosed with UC in Feb 2008. Lost 25lb in three weeks. Bloody hell diarrhea
Flare up in june 2008. took more antibiotics. Harder flare
Took prednisone for two months then 6mp. But I decided to get off on both.

10/08Started drinking hard liquors and once drank 15 shots in an hour.
Next day flare up.
11/08 Started anti-yeast regimen. I crapped out so much yeast. still crapping out yeast.

On: No med but zinc, cod liver oil, coral calcium, probiotics, threelac, alpha lipoic acid, chlorella, sea salt, garlic

2-3 times a day to the bathroom. A little bit of diarrhea(detox) then soft stool comes out. no bloating. good digestion.

VSL#3 DS is prescription. As to whether your insurance will cover it, that depends not on what company has the policy, but the terms of your policy. Your best bet would be to call the insurance company's customer service line and inquire about this.

Does your insurance company have a website?  If so, they probably have a list of prescription meds they cover.  Or you can call their customer service and I'm sure someone there could tell you whether or not VSL#3DS is covered.  If VSL#3 DS isn't covered by your insurance, ask your doc to contact them and both you and your doc can lobby to get VSL#3DS added to your formulary.  The odds that your insurance will go for it are slim, but it never hurts to try.  If your employer has PayFlex available I know that they will reimburse you for VSL#3 as long as they have a note/prescription from your doc saying you need it.

Good luck with this.  Insurance can be a hassle, but every once in a while you'll get someone who actually cares and is willing to help out (beyond the rote answers they get from their computers).
