I bought my husband the Jack LaLane's juicing machine for his birthday and I want to try to get more fruit and veggies in my diet but I can't handle them by themselves.  So I thought I would give the juicer a go.  Is there any fruits or veggie juice I need to avoid?  What about what is the most beneficial?

Hi Sherry...If I were to be juicing, I'd make sure I had the juice with a meal rather than between...at least to start.

With concentration of some juices, you might get diarrhea.

Oh, but in saying that...you could add metamucil powder to the juice to bulk things up a bit more.

I would suggest doing the research....keep us posted.

I have the same juicer, my biggest problem with it is it gets a lot of pulp in it, which tends to bother me. But my husband loves it. But he always bought high pulp juice anyway.

We just bought one too ! Looking for recipes. The pulp is higher than I thought, and I am hoping that my daughter can re-enjoy the fruits that have been denied her, due to seeds and too much fiber.
Will check back. Looks like the mango-orange-blueberry is the winner for us so far,

Mango, orange and blueberry actually sounds good! This one came with a recipe book and I'm anxious to try some of the recipes but I have to go shopping first lol I seen the picture of the cucumber one and I don't know if I can get myself to drink something that is a pukey green! :)

Is it easy to strain the pulp out?

Q, do you know which ones or guess which ones might cause the D to be more pronounced?

I usually make carrot juice and it doesn't seem to bother me at all. Carrots are probably your best veggie for vitamin A (beta carotene). Just need to find a good brand of carrots that are sweet and not bitter. Toss in part of a green apple to make it taste good if you like, but apple juice might make irritate some peoples colon.

Sherry...remember that food itself has action in the digestive tract, so you will have to figure out what works for you. Just don't drink large amounts on an empty stomach at first.

Have fun experimenting. One glass may be good, one and a half may be too much...it's just like eating too many oranges or whatever.

There might be a lot of pulp, but that in effect might be good because it'll be a fibre that would be insoluble and soluble...so maybe diarrhea might improve.

Not all agree with everyone. Looking forward to your experiments and feedback...

I bought a juicer years ago and get it out once or twice a year for 1 week stints. The problem with juicing is no matter what kind you have it's a hassle to clean. Mine is the Omega 3000 stainless and it works great to get a lot of juice out without pulp. I like carrots, spinach, hard pears, green apples, and parlsey. Controlling diarrhea is the key.

I started juicing about two months ago. After countless hours researching I finally decided upon the breville 800 JEXL, its great and does special things......hahahaha. On a serious note if you want to remove the juice from leafy vegetables your better off with an auger type juicer that turns slower and extracts more juice slowly. I think every juicer out their on the market thats decent is going to be a PIA to clean it just comes with the terrority. I usually just rinse mine off real fast. The only thing I upon up scrumbing usually in the metal screen.

On the the fun part, I make all kind of concoctions with my juicer. None of the drinks I make ever upset my stomach. I noticed a few people mentioned that it gives them mud butt sometimes, but it doesn't bother me. I usually drink this concoction:
1. (2) heads of brocolli
2. couple stalks of carrots
3. (8-10) brussell sprouts
4. (1) apple
5. (1/2) lemon
6. (8) stalks of asparagus

If you mix it right it doesn't taste to bad. I usually end up stirring it because it seperates in layers, kinda like when you mix different liquors together. The drink above usually comes out to like 24-32 ounces which is A LOT and sometimes its a PIA to drink all of it. I plan on cutting down on the quantity but haven't yet. Mine came with a receipe book but I haven't tried anything in their yet, but most of the drinks look pretty tasty.
26 year old male, diagnosed back in 2000 with UC.
My maintenance drugs consist of fish oil and acidophilus.. I take prednisdone when I have a flare up to get it under control. My bum likes me at the moment.
