I am not sure exactly how long, but I have not had any noticeable symptoms at least 6 yrs. I was supposed to get a scope every 2 yrs. but my PCP was refusing to give me a referral.(I am on medical assistance because I am disabled,so maybe she was saving the gov't $$) Anyway, I ended up with two skin diseases that can be related to having UC.(erythema nodosum and pyoderma gangrenosum) One of the first things the dermatologist said was,you need to get a colonoscopy,it has been too long.(normally if you have UC and you flare up with EN/PG, the UC gets worse)
fast forward....The prep was not bad at all.It is newer and called "Moviprep". It is no where near the amount of liquid you drink with the other prep.It also tastes A LOT better. When comparing the two,I would never complain about Moviprep.LOL.It is really sweet and tastes like strong lemonade. You drink 32 oz.(in 4 sections) one night(with a glass of water following) and then another 32 oz. the next morning. NOT BAD AT ALL!
Anyway...the good news is I am in remission. No active UC at all.

Awesome indeed! I have to have a scope next month and I am using the Moviprep. This is the first time using this prep method. I absolutely HATE the liquid preps but you make it not sound so bad. What is your regimine to get yourself into remission?

smilewinkgrin  I have not been on any meds. for UC for at least 6 yrs. The last med. I took for my UC(proctitis) was Canasa suppositories.(pills did not work and the enema stuff was no fun, made my migraines worse too) That does not mean I do not take any meds. I take a handful 3 times a day for chronic pain, blood pressure, etc.
As for anyone drinking the Moviprep,if you have any issues with it,just keep repeating,it is better(and less amount) than the other stuff. It is not bad at all.I never drank the Phososoda that is now off the shelves.(just the huge jug of icky stuff)

Congratulations!! I hope the doc took a load of biopsies. When do you get the results? Whe you do....make sure you get a copy of them...for sometimes visually everything is fine, but microscopically...that tells the story.

Be well for a long time!!!!
