For those looking for gluten free cookies, crackers and bread this is from the SCD website. I have been gluten free for a full 2 day, I'm working on my third, I've never been able to pass this day. However, what a difference I notice
My stools don't stink to high heaven
My pain in the gut is gone
I don't run back and forth to the toilet, today was 3 times ususally it's 10 or more for a hour
Even though I was tested for celiac disease and it came back negitive, there a intolerance I know. I would suggest to all UCers b/c our intestinal tract is very inflammed and sensitive, to try going gluten free for a few days and see how you feel.
Breakfast- Eggs, fruit, gluten free breads,
Lunch-Meat with veggies, salad if you can take it (I can't it tears me up) You can eat out at chinese rest. just asked for steamed chix and veggies, sauce on the side
Dinner-Fish, boiled cabbage and corn beef (Happy St. Patty's Day!), so on.
I was getting discourage and thinking what in the heck can I eat? But you find things you haven't had in a long time like stuffed cabbage or green peppers, good wholesome meals.
It does take time to prepare your meals, but some things you can buy on line at this website i.e. cookies that are gluten free and on the SCD diet.
I'm on the LDN now for 2 weeks @ 4.5mg, I feel good every day mood wise, I wake in the morning really happy, my stools are not formed yet so I'm waiting for the 4-6weeks when they say you'll really see an improvement. You can watch youtube videos of LDN conferences, doctors and my pharmasist Skip Lenz talk about the benefits of LDN. I have no side effects at all from LDN compared to 5ASA's which I had everyone one. I would seriously consider this medication if the 5asa makes you sick from the side effects.
My next supplement, I'm adding in a PREbiotic to my regimin and hope this has more improvement in my colon as well as the probiotics.
I hope these suggestions can help, please try to not eat bread, pasta, cookies, cakes, go Gluten Free for a couple of days I bet you'll see a difference.
Very mild left sided (could have fooled me with the "mild") UC. STARTED LDN ON 1/25/09. Supplements: Cod Liver, Probiotics, multi whole food vitamin, olive leaf extract.
