I have been diagnosed with diverticular colitis, not to be confused with diverticulitis. This is an inflammatory condition that is seen with diverticular disease. It is not an infective process like diverticulitis. My doctor told me is is quite rare and they really don't know much about it. They treat it like crohn's or UC. I have been on meds for two months now (colazal and rowaza enemas) and I am doing so so. I can't eat much roughage, no dairy, nuts or seeds or I have a flair that lasts almost a week.  I would like to hear how this is for others and how things are going for them.  ometimes I think maybe it would be better if I could just get this disease portion out and get on with my life.

Anybody ever heard of this? Thanks! confused

Hi...it's good you have a diagnosis, albeit one that's not common. I did a little reading, and it does state that one should be on a high fibre diet...I'm assuming specific as to not cause you discomfot, but to help keep the proper peristalsis and cleaning of the colon as to prevent diverticula from getting involved.

Seems 5ASA meds are a good thing, so you're already in that category of treatment.

Have you done much research on it?

What do you eat on a daily basis? Maybe some of us could help with that...
