So I was wondering if any of you guys get hemroids?? It seems when my butt is really going at it for a couple of days I end up getting one. So I just want to know if it happens to anyone else.

I got really, really, really bad ones when I was delivering my son, that got incredibly horrible when my first flare started. Luckily, I got them under control during the brief respite I had in December, and they haven't been too much of a problem since. Cortisone creme (just the OTC 1% stuff) seems to work the best at shrinking them and keeping them from enlarging. Preparation H didn't do squat for me.
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, 40mg of Prednisone (quick taper), Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).

You should consider the suppositories. Call the doc and maybe he/she could prescribe proctocedyl...they do help me.

Applying maybe zinc ointment or hydrocortisone on the outside of the anus will help as well...

Are you flaring? I notice mine "rear" before a flare, but as soon as I start the rectal meds and use a bit of proctocedyl ointment or hydrocortisone, they do recede.

You might also have a bit of a yeast infection if you're having itching and extreme redness...an antiyeast preparation such as Canesten external cream helps.

Hope you feel better soon.

I got hemorrhoids from having to go to the bathroom so much when I was flaring. They aren't so bad though. I only notice them sometimes when I'm going to the bathroom.

Rarely, but I did last year and the suppositories cleared it right up. It wasn't bleeding but was causing sharp pain, like a cut.
49 year old female attorney, diagnosed UC/pancolitis 1985, no surgery but much suffering. Asacol/5ASA 6x400 mg maintenance for 20+ years; use prednisone & Rowasa for flares.
August 2008 sought care of naturopathic doctor. Food sensitivity test showed wheat/gluten, other intolerances; eliminated all wheat/gluten from my diet. Probiotics (Ultimate Flora, 50 billion), trying Curamin.
Flaring, seasonal? or supplements too harsh? Back on prednisone, down to 10 mg. Waiting for insurance decison on Humira...

I have my first flareup (been diagnosed yesterday) and yes, I have bad hemorroids. I use Prep H cream or ointment and it really helps... Also, after my first dose of prednisone yesterday the pain went away for the day, only returning at bedtime...
Diagnosed with pancolitis 19/03/09
Prednisone 40 mg, Mezavant 4.6g
