Those who are using VSL 3 I have a few questions.

Do you think it is or was helping you?
What is your usual dosage? I know the company has a protocol based on your symptoms, but I like to hear from actual people.

Any side effects noticed?

Do other probiotics work almost as well for lesser price?

I've been taking it for only 10 days now but no side effects for me. No bloating.
edited: I take 900billion(vsl#3 ds) a day
According to Jini, it's not the best to have different strains of probiotics in one form(powder/pill) but I'm still giving it a try.

I took enzymatic therapy for 4 days and I noticed a difference but I finished the 30 day supply in 4 days ****.
I had the most well formed stools during those four days.

Most importantly, it is the change in diet that matters the most for the good bacteria to proliferate.
Taking too much fermentable food is detrimental to the growth of good bacteria because they feed the bad intestinal bacteria and let them grow at a faster rate.

Yes there are so many choices of probiotics it is hard to tell what is best and then you have the good yeast kind of probiotics as well Saccharomyces Boulardii.

Yes I watch my diet as far as the sugars and carbs go almost for a week now.

I bought a box of VSL 3 to try out, I only just started and using one pack a day. Unfortunately I got a bad head cold at the same time and now my symptoms got worse today, maybe because of the cold or the cold medication Benadryl. Makes me mad, it seemed I was making some solid progress finally after about a month, and now this cold probably set me back.

Thanks for that link!

Hi, I take VSL#3DS normally 2 times/day. If I feel that I have some gas or my BM is not solid then I increase it to 3-4/day. Normally I have 1 BM/day and it is solid BM. I have not try any other probiotic. My GP doctor suggested me to take VSL. When my BM is solid and once a day, taking more than two does not make any difference in BM. I have not notice any side effect. It helped me great deal after stopping steroid intake.

I took VSL#3 with improvment for a couple of months, but after a round of antibiotics, the VSL#3 never regained its effectiveness. I've since switched to a probiotic I was taking earlier.

I took some VSL#3 for a month, and it didn't seem to help as much as it cost. I took two capsules a day, but if you want more info on the dosage go to- I didn't notice any side effects from it. As of now I'm trying culturelle, sticking to the theory of just trying to work on one major colony rather than many strains. It has been working fairly well it seems. But I just recently came down with a cold, and my symptoms are worse than ever.
Asacol-12 a day
1 Culturelle
1 Canasa
2 Fish oil supplements
1 Vitamin

1 sachet of VSL#3; 3 times a day before meals.

The first time I tried it I was having a severe flare. For the first couple of days the D decreased significantly but then came back with a vengeance, with increased bleeding. However, I think I should have started with a smaller dose and built up from that, as it may have been too much for the system to handle at the time.

I started using it again about 4 weeks ago and immediately felt a difference. My symptoms before using it were 4-6 formed BM's a day with very slight bleeding, and having to get up once at night to go to the toilet, and improved to 2-4 formed BM's a day, no visible bleeding, and not getting up at night.

I have been using flavored VSL#3 and recently bought unflavored VSL#3, but find that it does not dissolve as well - so I'm switching back to flavored.

No side-effects (...yet!).
