So in the past month ive gone from considering surgery to now in remission. After having colonoscopy i found out that my medicine had not been going throughout the whole colon but had completely cleared the right (i think..) side from UC, while the part towards the end was very inflamed. So after using canasa for a while i think im finally in remission. The last time that i had a bowel movement was around 8am yesterday. Im sooo happy :)

Excellent news!!!! Hope you continue to feel well for a long while.

Just a suggestion...please don't abruptly stop the Canasa....try going to every second night and if that's good for a few weeks, go to every third night (or day..whatever you're doing)....and keep at a maintenance dosage of twice a week or once a week...tapered to that point of course..

*Heather* Status..Asacol  (3 x2 daily); Salofalk enemas nightly for flares, tapered to maintenance  mild flare nightly enemas
~diagnosed January 1989 UC (proctosigmoiditis)
~Bentylol (dicyclomine) 20mg as needed; Ranitidine (reflux);  Effexor XR 75mg(depression);  Pulmicort/Airomir (asthma)
~vitamins/minerals/supplementsProbiotics....(Natural Factors Protec, Primadophilus Reuteri Pearls, Natural Factors Ultimate). @ bedtime
~various digestive enzymes as needed; started Omega 3
~URSO for PSC (or PBC) 500mg X 2 daily (LFTs back to NORMAL!!)
My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS"  worth it !!!

Great! :)
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, 40mg 30mg of Prednisone (quick taper), Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).
