hi
i got vaccinated for rubella on 11 march and since then i m having a flare up. Canasa was working o.k for me initially, it was slowly getting the flare under control but after vaccination (3-4 days later) i started getting constipation, mucus & blood. Which had decreased earlier.
Dnt know if i m guessing correct that rubella vaccination is the reason or is this just another normal flare up.
Has anyone come across any person who had a flare up due to vaccination.
i m scared!

I wouldn't be scared about it...but it makes sense that the body's increase of immunity could encourage an already developing flare...or if you're not healed, it could exacerbate it.

Please consider to increase the suppositories to twice a day...that could help get your fears soothed and your rectum healed faster.

Keep us updated as to how you're feeling.

You could also consider to add probiotics.

quincy, i love your posts...half my worries are gone just reading your post.

I will double canasa and started probiotic yesterday - BTW i do not know much about probiotic - i bought "Dual action Acidophilus & bifidus" (lactobacillus acidophilus, bifidobacterium lactis) - 500 million cells - i have to keep it frozen - is this fine? I bought it in a hurry & these are the bacteria names i could remember from the posts so i went for it..... hope it's fine!

thanks !

Gosh, darn, thanks for the kind words :-D

I think the probiotics you purchased are good and basic to start. I used acidophilus and bifidus initially and then ventured to others.

I read the directions online..it says to take 1 - 3 daily preferably before meals, so I will guess on an empty stomach? The other option is to take them at night before bedtime about 2 hours after your meds.

Why do you have to keep them frozen? I would keep them refrigerated, but have never considered frozen. You'd have to check the label, and if it states a degree restriction, maybe it'd be OK . It wouldn't kill them I don't think, so you'll have to be the judge of that.

You could take some Tylenol if you're feeling achey or whatever after the imumisation.

Let us know how the probiotics work out for you.

Have a feeling better week!

Oh! that was an error - i meant refrigerated.... didnt realize i was actually writing "frozen" - sorry for that :-) It has the same directions as u have mentioned - i take it 1/2 hour before lunch.
Yesterday was just the 2nd day of taking probiotic and it was little increased mucus, but i guess this happens in the beginning as per the earlier posts i have read :-)
I will keep u posted about how i feel !
thanks quiny

LOL...was wondering about the frozen part...your fingers were working faster than your thinking I guess.

Increased mucus will happen as the colon is healing...for me, I see that as a good thing...still protecting the colon.

When do you see the doc next?

Definitely keep us posted....

Have a feeling better day.
