Today is my last day on 30mg of prednisone.  The plan my doctor lined out was to do 40mg for 5 days, 30mg for 5 days, 20 mg for 5 days, 15mg and I go see him on April 7 to see where I am.

BMs have been completely formed since Friday or so.  I haven't noticed any blood until today (I don't look really hard for it, though), but it was just a bit streaked on the outside of the feces.  I have hemmies, too, internal and external, which are getting a bit inflamed now that I have to work a bit to get poop out!  Is this blood likely from them, or from the UC?  Bleeding hasn't been one of my major symptoms, either, if that makes any difference.
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, 40mg 30mg of Prednisone (quick taper), Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).

Hi...I'd say it's UC-related still. You have lots of colon to heal, and if it's possibly now limited to the rectum, it'll take a tad longer to heal.

You'll see soon enough while you're tapering. Are you still taking the Rowasa?

Yup, still using them every night, and have no problems retaining them.

It's hard to tell. I also get hemorrhoids after flaring for awhile. I guess one way that I know that it's blood due to hemorrhoids is that usually I feel a slight but sharp pain at the area where the hemorrhoids are when I'm going poo. Try to pay attention as to whether or not you feel any pain.

It's normal to have some bleeding when tapering off Prednisone though, because it takes awhile for the body to start producing more Cortisol on its own.
Joy - 47 yrs and counting
Diagnosed w/ UC Dec 06 (also have IBS)
Currently in remission
Don't expect your doctor to cure your health problems. Your health is your responsibility.

Lexapro (for stress), Probiotics and Vitamins (a whole bunch of them)
Avoid HFCS, foods high in fructose, artificial sweeteners
When flaring: eat anti-inflammatory foods, avoid pro-inflammatory foods
Previous treatments: Fecal transplantation (worked), Prednisone (stopped working), Colazal (stopped working), Asacol (stopped working)
