What are the essentials in healing the intestinal walls?

What is essential and most important in healing the intestinal walls? Supplements and food wise?

According to my Naturopath, L-Glutamine. I haven't had a chance to try it yet since I'm breastfeeding.
31 yr old female currently breastfeeding (weaning so I can start 6mp)
Mild Pancolitis
I've had UC since 2000 but was in remission for most of those 8 years med free
Cannot tolerate mesalamine - starting 6mp soon

My friends grandma swore by Aloe Vera Juice.

Dee-39yrs old wife and mom of 3 boys

Second on the L-Glutamine. Nutritional seminar couple weeks ago guy was saying same.
Proctitis DX 1999, Pancolitis DX 2008

Golimumab study (100mg every 4 weeks)
Vitamin E Enemas as needed
Probiotis/GreenTea/VitD+Ca/SuperDHA

L-glutamine, Mucosaheal (which contains l-glutamine), aloe vera (I recommend George's Roadrunner Aloe Vera Juice) and high doses of omega3 to reduce inflammation.

Do a search on l-glutamine and you'll find plenty of threads. In fact, we were just discussing it earlier in the week.


Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis spring 1999.
 
Maintenance dose sulfasalazine. Probiotics, l-glutamine, vitamin D and fish oil caps. George's aloe vera juice. Oregano oil antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal. Mostly grain-free and dairy-free diet. Long-term remission with only minor blips.

Hey Dr-A, I also take Lialda. I take 4 a day in the morning for a total of 4.8 grams a day. You only take 1 a day? It doesn't do nothing for me. Im also using canasa every night. I also have proctitis......


Thanks everyone for the comments. I will try the glutamine. I'm also gonna start the turmeric.

I actually quit taking the lialda. I was doing 4 a day and it did nothing for me, on top of me pooping them out. Too expensive to pass into the toilet, lol.

Probiotics can also be a beneficial tool in healing the mucosal lining (google VSL3).

:)
