I was not doing too well upto this friday with 4-8bm's some blood and urgency. My specialist put me on imuran (azaprione?) 2 tablets a day and predfoam twice a day if possible but realistically I can only take it at bedtime - this also replaces the pentasa suppository's which I used to take at bedtime, I can't take both.

I was about the same till monday and monday afternoon had severe abdominal pain - I don't usually get this anymore perhaps since I was found to be allergic to milk (Igg) and cut it out but on monday I had a lot of pain, gurgling and bloating and these symptoms have continued until today though the pain has not been as severe as monday. I stopped taking the predfoam on tuesday to see if that would improve things but I'm the same this morning. On monday I was very tired and slept most of the time after work,  by wed the tiredness had mostly gone, maybe this means I'm getting better?

Any suggestions? i don't really want to stop imuran as i'm hopnig it will be the 'thing' that works for me?? but I seem to be reasonably ill since starting taking it and the predfoam. In the past when I have used predfoam I've had one bad time on it - symptoms similar to today, one very good reaction giving me no symptoms al all! and the 3rd time no difference.

I'm thinking shortly maybe today I need to rign up my doc and see what she says and/or go on a glucose and water diet for a few days - not eating sometimes is the only thing that seems to improve things..

Six days is not enough time for Imuran to be working in your system yet. It can be a coincidence that you have had an increase of symptoms after starting it. Did you start both the foam and Imuran at the same time? It could be that you are one of the few that can't tolerate the foam. Have you ever given the enemas a go yet such the 5-ASA's or Cortesteroid?

Yes I started the predfoam and imuran at the same time.

It could be a coincidence and maybe I was getting this bad anyway but I've felt quite bad all week. I stopped the predfoam on Tuesday and while I haven't had really bad pain like monday i still seem to be worse than usual.

I've had the foam twice before once with good results once with no results or maybe getting worse? Also oral steriods once, I seemed to get a lot worse but I did go on holiday at the same time...

Yes tried 5-asa enema's liquid and foam and find the suppositories seem to help more and are better/easier to take. I'm back on pentasa suppositories once I stopped the predfoam.

Should imuran increase or decrease white blood count?

Ian - Imuran decreases the WBC count.  Which is one of the reasons you need to have regular blood tests to make sure it doesn't drop too low, which is what happened to me a couple of times.

Good luck
