I'm feeling much better after a few weeks on prednisone. But now I'm still in the washroom twice every night, just now it's to pee. I'm not peeing frequently, during the day mind you.

I think it's just that my large intestine is now effectively absorbing water, not some kind of prostate/bladder problem. One of the problems is sometimes I can't get back to sleep. Does pred get you wired?

The same things happening to me right now! I'm just getting off a flare-up, and keep having to get up to pee. I never went on the prednisone though. I have heard prednisone can cause insomnia, but I've never taken it so I can't comment.

Only thing that helps me is the Xanax I take before I go to bed and taking the prednisone as early in my day as possible.  I started on 40 mg. and when tapering it got better and now on 20 mg. not a problem and I get up two or three times in the night to pee - overactive bladder doctor says!  Had it for years - I am 68 and it runs in my family!

Every time I have been on Prednisone, I have always had to get up to pee at least once during the night.  This will go back to normal when you stop taking the Pred.

I have the same thing happening to me! It sucks, since I normally pee in the middle of the night anyway, but since getting my scripts it's literally been up to 4, 5 times a night.

It's nice to know it's probably the prednisone and not the asacol, especially since I'm almost done with my pred (last dose tomorrow). It'll be nice to finally get some normal sleep.

Well don't worry too much. Rather it is good that you are peeing and the steroids are getting drained out. It cleanses the system without adversely affecting the kidneys. It is quite normal. At times when one is on heavy steroids, one may have some sort of white discharge too. nothing to worry.

I've always thought that because I use the restroom so much I've never been able to develop a big healthy bladder! I joked with my friends that now that I know to avoid wheat and have (had) a calmer gut, maybe I'll be able to grow a bladder in time for golf season...
At least now, at my age, many women need to pee more, not just me. And men need to go even more often than that, with all their prostate issues.

Prednisone definitely interferes with sleep. My cat snores, wakes me up, I need to pee. Then I'm awake for the duration, pretty much. Might as well get up! You might find you just don't need the sleep on prednisone.

August 2008 sought care of naturopathic doctor. Food sensitivity test showed wheat/gluten, other intolerances; eliminated all wheat/gluten from my diet. Probiotics (Ultimate Flora, 50 billion), trying Curamin.
Flaring, seasonal? or supplements too harsh? Back on prednisone, tried to taper but now back up to 20-30 after several really bad days. Waiting for insurance decison on Humira...soon...
