I was just wondering if anyone just passes tissue or skin it looks like with blood and it's very painful? I look in the toilet and cry it's so upsetting.

Also, I've been gluten free, dairy and sugar free, no big difference here, but it's only been 4 days. How soon does someone see an improvement.Thank You

Hi there, I don't want to frighten you but when this happened to me,I had to have IV steriods for five days, the doctor told me it was part of the wall linning of the colon starting to break down, due to inflamation,my advice would be to get to the doctor I think this is unlikely to get better without meds,I'm a left sider as well, and my GI says we are often the most difficult to treat as the rectal meds don't make it far enough up and the oral meds are dispersed before they get far enough down.I don't know if you suffer from constipation, but this can be a disaster for us as I have learnt to my cost what happens is the left side gets so inflamed the solid stool will not pass down and builds up at the top I've seen it on an Xray I had.I did not even think I was constipated as I was having dirahrea at the time, my consultation had me take a load of movicol,to add water and soften stools, the achey pain on my left side subsided after this and that horrid ripping pain you can feel is literally the linning coming away I know, its just awfull I hope you get it sorted soon Take care Anna

Thank you Anna for responding, no I don't have constipation, I wish I did. I'm just the opposite. I'm staring back on my LDN cream tonight, it's recommended that I do. All the 5asa make me so sick I can't function. I'm doing gluten free, diary, sugar, soy and corn so what the heck is irrating it, life? I'm under no stress whatsoever. I eat, a  wave of pain runs across my gut right below my stomach, I get nausous, poop.
I'm going to start my physillium again.
Thank you.

It's not anything you are eating or doing that is causing your symptoms. It's the disease.

Hi Suebear,

I hate to see the skin, it worries me. I'm going to try the mauka honey I heard good feedback on this.

Thank you,

The symptoms your describing the pain and nausea, after eating are exactly the same as I had,I agree with suebear, they have nothing to do with what your eating or doing,I would urge you to see a doctor,as I don't think any manuka honey good as it is,is going to make any difference,I think you will find you need medical help to get over this, and the longer you leave it the worse it will get.

I don't mean to be rude, but you're bring ridiculous- what you are seeing is exactly what Annelise said, bits of tissue sloughing off the inside of your colon. You ought to call your GI doc & talk about a script for pred- seriously, if you rely on honey, you're going to wind up in surgery. There are plenty of other meds beside the 5Asa's.

diagnosed with UC '02
meds-
Asacol- 8 tabs/day
Remicade-10mgs/kg- since 4/07
Imuran- 150mgs/day
various probiotics
Fiber supplement

Don't get too scared. I pass skin, blood, and blood clots when I'm flaring. Yes, passing skin is scary; however, I'm probably passing skin when I'm passing lots of blood and blood clots. I just can't see it.

I relied on Probiotics and diet with my last flare. I did not end up getting surgery. In fact, I ended up going into remission.

Can you ask for something not as strong as Prednisone and see how that works? Or try switching your medication? No reason to jump to Prednisone if you don't need to.

Currently in remission
Don't expect your doctor to cure your health problems. Your health is your responsibility.

Lexapro (for stress), Probiotics and Vitamins (a whole bunch of them)
Avoid HFCS, foods high in fructose, artificial sweeteners
When flaring: eat anti-inflammatory foods, avoid pro-inflammatory foods
Previous treatments: Fecal transplantation (worked), Prednisone (stopped working), Colazal (stopped working), Asacol (stopped working)
