Okay so I had not heard back from AccessOne the place who is implementing Remistart here in Colorado.
I mailed my EOB to them a couple weeks ago so I thought that I better follow-up. I misplaced their number so I called the billing office of the Arthritis Clinic that I go to to get my infusions. I left Sandra a message. She is the woman who gave me the information to start Remistart. I left a message for her. After all she told me to call her if I had questions. Anyway she called me back and said that it was my responsebility to contact Remistart and not them me because I did not do anything to get the money in the first place??????? shocked (I'm thinking isn't that why I called you?????) She then gives me the number and I called Accessone. Accessone tells me that they sent my EOB back to the doctor because it did not say what it needed to say (Not sure what was missing?) Soooo then I call lovely Sandra back and tell her. She says What? I never heard of that before. As if she does not believe me. She then says she'll call me back and when she does she talks to me in a very condescending voice. She says now put the Accessone number some place where you won't lose it (Witch haven't you ever misplaced anything before?) She said we will send the EOB for you. You don't have to worry about it any more. (I'm not sure why this is my fault, but it apparently is) She then said in her lovely condescending voice, so when I call you to check on Accessone please call and check on it. shocked I was in shock through both conversations. I came to my senses later and am now very angry. So anyway I want to call her back tomorrow and let her know that I don't appreciate being talked to the way she talked to me. My only concern is that she is the only billing person in that office (I'm going to have to deal with her a lot) and she might make it more difficult for me with regard to payments. Not that she is doing me any big favors now but she is waiting for the Remistart to kick in as I am. Thus the reason that I tried to follow up with Accessone/Remistart today. With Insurance and Remistart my husband and I will still be paying around $4000.00 for infusions this year. Crazy

Thanks for Listening,

Ugh!!! How rude!! I'd call her back and ask to speak to her boss and give them a piece of my mind. It sucks because you wouldn't be on Remi in the first place unless you had to and then she gives you a hard time! Some people...

Call back and speak to the office manager. The office manager is responsible for everything that goes on in the office. Explain to her how condenscending this lady was and maybe the manager will have a talk with her. You don't need this right now and she should be more understanding.

Don't let it bother you- who cares, really, as long as you get the Remistart approved? I'd think that if you complain to her boss, she'll definitely be rude to you in the future! Maybe she was just having an off day. My GI's office is pretty small, there is only 1 woman who handles Remicade approvals & the like- she's nice, thankfully! You don't want to get a rep as being a complainer around the office, know what I mean? If she continues to be rude & condescending, be overly sweet & nice right back- she'll get the point!

I think you should seek a civil, calm conversation with her boss or the office manager and let them know about your experience. "I just thought you would want to know...."
49 year old female attorney, diagnosed UC/pancolitis 1985, no surgery but much suffering. Asacol/5ASA 6x400 mg maintenance for 20+ years; use prednisone & Rowasa for flares.
August 2008 sought care of naturopathic doctor. Food sensitivity test showed wheat/gluten, other intolerances; eliminated all wheat/gluten from my diet. Probiotics (Ultimate Flora, 50 billion), trying Curamin.
Flaring, seasonal? or supplements too harsh? Back on prednisone, tried to taper but now back up to 20-30 after several really bad days. Waiting for insurance decison on Humira...soon...
