It's been awhile since I've posted here because I've been in remission for a couple of years now. But I'm writing today because since the weekend I've been really unwell.

For the past few months I've been trying to include new things into my very restricted diet (I also have hypoglygemia) and last Friday I took a sip of a new juice (it had a TON of ingredients. It was silly of me to try it) and on Saturday morning I ate something from my regular diet which didn't taste right. Saturday afternoon I started cramping but I didn't have diarrhea until right before bed. Sunday and Monday I still had cramps but it was getting a lot better. Then Monday I got my period and all heck broke loose!

Since I also have endometriosis, the cramps from my period combined with whatever was all ready going on (a reaction to the juice or food poisoning), made me really ill - I felt as sick as I did 4 years ago when I had my colitis flare. Since I also have low blood sugar and need to eat, this has made the last few days very tricky. I've been so sick to my stomach I nearly fainted twice and nearly thrown up a bunch of times. Luckily, I haven't had any more diarrhea and no blood in my stools so I'm not even sure it is colitis...?

Today, I'm feeling better but I'm weak as a kitten and so dizzy I can hardly stand up for any length of time.

Does this sound like colitis or maybe something else? Maybe it's just a combination of everything? I haven't called my doctor because I figured once the first part (and usually worst part) of my period was over, the pain would subside and things would get back to normal. For the most part, the pain is gone but but I still feel very very ill.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like you may be dehydrated, usually dizzy spells are a sign of that....it could also be a flu bug, but I know that when I have my periods it always throws my IBD out of whack too, hope you feel better soon.

Thanks! I've been trying to drink but that's been a struggle too because of the nausea.

BTW - LOVE your tagline. LOL - my hubbie says his bum is broken when he has a hemorroid!

A real catch 22 for you eh, that sucks, but you have to keep trying to get in as much water as possible, I do well with using chamomile tea, if you don't have allergies to ragweed you could try chamomile tea as it may help with the nausea and help with hydration, ginger is another great source for nausea, fresh ginger is best of course. Glad you like my tag line, my sisters used to tease me about having a broken bum because of the bum crack so I sorta just went with it, who would have known that their innocent childhood teasing would have turned into fact for me LOL.

Definitely could be a bug. If you're still throwing up, go VERY slow with the liquids. Wait an hour after vomiting, then take a small sip every 15 minutes for a couple of hours. Then you can start increasing the amount.
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, 40mg 30mg 20mg 15mg of Prednisone (quick taper), Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).
