I just got back from my eye doctor, and he said that with my history of Iritis, (3times in last 6yrs) he said contacts wouldn't be the best for me, which I don't want anyway. He did mention getting laser eye surgery, but I don't know. Has anyone here had that done, and if so, are you happy you did?

I did, very very very happy that I did. Find the best you can afford.
49 year old female attorney, diagnosed UC/pancolitis 1985, no surgery but much suffering. Asacol/5ASA 6x400 mg maintenance for 20+ years; use prednisone & Rowasa for flares.
August 2008 sought care of naturopathic doctor. Food sensitivity test showed wheat/gluten, other intolerances; eliminated all wheat/gluten from my diet. Probiotics (Ultimate Flora, 50 billion), trying Curamin.
Flaring, seasonal? or supplements too harsh? Back on prednisone, tried to taper but now back up to 20-30 after several really bad days. Waiting for insurance decison on Humira...soon...

I never had it done but a friend of mine did and she had complications.  Be careful who you choose to do the surgery.

I went to one of the best lasik surgeons in NYC and had lasik done about 9 years ago, but it didn't work for me, and my eye-sight actually got worse.

However, that's the risk of this kind of procedure, and most people I've met seem to be happy with it. Dry-eye and night-glare seemed to be their biggest complaints.

It's one of those things. You will hear horror stories about lasik and success stories. Do your research, find a doctor with a great reputation in your area and go from there. I know 3 people who has had it done and they have had no complications at all.

I had it done in March 2006. It has been worth every penny!!! Definitely investigate and find a good surgeon who has done the procedure many, many times. I used a TLC in Michigan.

Best not to do while in a flare or while on prednisone. Because of my UC, the doc did request a note from my PCP stating it was okay for me to have the surgery.

I love not having to wear glasses!
