I know it refers to inflammation and flares but, does this include constant cramping, and all kinds of abdominal pain. I also have burning of the eyes, fatigue, and burning of certain areas of the skin, and the throat. I'm sure I'm missing alot of my other symtpoms but that's not the point.

What is remission? If it's free from pain I've never has a second of it in 3 years of UC.
UC since 2006

2009 UC Pancolitis though Primiarly Left Sided, Active Moderate

Current Meds: Lialda 4 tab a day
Predinsone (40 mg a day) since 3/30 Not doing anything, hopefully something soon!

Current Supplements:
Vit. B-12, Vit. D3, VSl#3 Probiotics

What does remission feel like, I don't remember!

Nip UC in the bud with diet before it nips you in the bud (or butt) for good!

Wish I could tell you from experience.  When I have a very good day I think I may be in remission but never seem to have two in a row.  AND- some of those pains, etc. are from medication, too, I believe.  Hang in there!

I don't really know what remission is to tell you the truth. It's just "get back to normal for as long as possible" for me.
Age: 31
Location: Missouri
Diagnosed with UC in 1997.
Medications: Mesalamine rectal meds, 2 Lialda a day, doc let me off Azathioprine

I am in remission.  No cramping, no diarrhea, no urgency, no blood.  Feel completely "normal".  Formed bowel movements...once or twice per day, depending on diet.

Update 11/03/08...finally in remission!!  Hope I don't jinx myself.  Off the prednisone since 11/01/08...now see if I can stay off for longer than two weeks.  Other meds: 6MP (75 mgm), colazal (6 per day), Benicar and Toprol (high blood pressure meds), Probiotic (2 per day), fish oil capsule and multi-vitamin and calcium with vitamin D.

Remission is Heaven on earth...
An occassional glass of wine or beer with friends and not having to dash to the closest bathroom...
Remission is pushing the Depends way to the back of the bathroom cabinet...
Remission is listening all the way through a talk in your congregation without flying to the bathroom and praying that some kid isn't taken the stall you are bolting towards...
Remission is sitting happily on the same sofa in your GI Doc's office that you once were curled up on in the fetal position because of cramps...
Remission is not cleaning blood from a BM off the bedroom floor in the middle of the night...
Remission is running with my Dog on the beach, fishing on a boat with friends without warning them you may have to crap over the side of the boat...
Remission is eating in a restaurant....and knowing whatever you order should be OK....
Remission is not having to keep a stainless steel bowl and wet-wipes in the truck in case you have to go on the way to work....
Remission is having energy, feeling almost 'high' after weeks and weeks of pain, bleeding, embarrassment and excuses....Remission is not wondering if your wife is second-guessing if she can live with my long flair-ups...

Remission - almost heaven.

Yes, pray we all get there - at least even close would be good for some of us.  I am close.  I don't have any symptoms but little spasms in rectal area and blood/mucous with my 2 or 3 BM's morning.  Otherwise, eating more kinds of food, less gas, no pains (except gas once ina while).  But, I have IBS so have lived with some of that for many years - mostly when I do not eat properly for my system.

I am still on prednisone and 6 MP - so I want all this without steroids - or very low dose.
