I just got home from my colonoscopy and my doc said that my colon has never looked better.  Slightly red in the rectal area but that was probably from the prep.  Also that I have small hemmies but I already knew that.  I asked him why I was still having D and he thinks it might just be bowel spasms and as long as it's not interferring with things to continue what I'm doing which is take Bentyl for the cramping (it helps with the D too).  So I am officially in remission now whoohoo!   smilewinkgrin

So then it is true that you can be in remission and have D.......personal question but how often are you having D.........please dont answer if it makes you uncomfortable but I have also found that I almost always have D even in remission when I am only going once or twice a day. Congratulations.

Lol nothing is too personal on here Joma! :) I guess it is possible to still have D and be in remission according to my GI. I don't have any other symptom other then the D and occasional cramping. I don't have D every single day but out of 7 days I would say about 4 of them are with D and it's around 3-4 times in the morning and that's it.

WONDERFUL!!
I have a call in to my NP once again about the prednisone dose and 6MP.  When I uppsed the prednisone just 5 mg. on my own things are looking much better.

Hope I can see REMISSION too someday - even almost would be great.  I feel I am about 80%.  As for D - I have IBS for years so what I eat can cause D a day or two a week - just if it does NOT have blood or too much mucous I am happy.  Doesn't take a lot to make us happy sometimes, huh?

Always nice when the prep is worth all the agony! Awesome to hear you're in remission .... stay that way...that's an order!

You could add a fibre supplement to also help with the diarrhea...it will also help even out the spasming after a while. That in conjunction with the Bentyl will help.

Did the doc suggest you use the enemas on maintenance? at least to help get the low rectal inflammation quiet. If not, I would suggest it at least every 5 nights.....(or even hydrocortisone supps)

Be well!

No, he didn't mention any rectal meds. He said the rectal inflammation was only slightly red and mentioned that the scope probably made it that way. I have tried fiber supplements so many times in the past and they just don't agree with me. I may start adding a salad a day (Romain lettuce). Usually the day after I eat a salad things firm up a bit more but it makes the cramping worse so I may have to rely on the bentyl a little more if I do that.

Thanks everyone! I thought I was in remission but it's always nice to have it actually seen by the doc :)

Awesome news!! I'm so happy for you. It's great to see such a positive post after your post yesterday about having to do the prep. lol.

Dr. Klein wanted me to give Lialda a try even though I always thought ASA meds made me worse. I've been on it for just 4 days along w/the hydrocortisone enemas and I'm already doing much better. I'm hoping that I'm heading into remission too. I only had 2 BM today and it seems that the bleeding is letting up quite a bit. I just finished a Whopper w/cheese and I'm fine, no trouble from it at all. :)
