Those following me and interested to know - I finally got a call back from my NP who discussed with the doctor the next step in my tapering prednisone and increasing 6MP.  I had called three times and left a message.  They had so many problems with their phones that they missed many calls in the last two weeks and they all came up today - modern technology at its best!!
Anyway, I wrote here I decided to increase my prednisone from 20 to 25 mg. when bleeding returned while tapering from 40 to 30 and then 20.  I have been on 25 for 6 days and blood is gone as far as I can see and I feel better.  Still some spasms in rectal area but no D or blood and less symptoms of any kind.  All rectal meds I have used so far made it worse so staying away from them for now.
I am also on 6MP now for 40 days at 50MG.
So, tonight I start on 75Mg. 6MP and stay on 25mg predinisone and have extenstive blood testing next Thursday and go from there.
Just hope all continues and 6MP kicks in soon.  Doctor is anxious to get me lower on rednisone and off as soon as possible.
Wish me luck!

Good to hear that they finally got back to you. Hope 6MP gets working and that you're off prednisone soon too.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed the 6MP kicks in soon so you can get off of the pred! I'm glad to know it wasn't your GI being an arse, too, even though they might want to get a new phone system!
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, 40mg 30mg 20mg 15mg 10mg of Prednisone (quick taper), Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).
