ok.  When I go to the bathroom, I see nothing on the poop.  Then, after I push some more out, there is blood in the toilet....a lot of blood.  I can go 3 times and not see anything, then the next time tons of blood.  The blood is bright red, and my bum hurts a little.  Do you think it is a hemmie or maybe a small cut, or do you think the blood is coming from my UC???  I am starting to get worried.

It's hard to say, you should really report any changes to your GI and have your GI check your butt out to know for sure what's going on so it can be treated.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)

Yes, get checked by the GI doctor.  It does sound like UC though.  I went through the same thing last year.  Don't worry, everything will be ok. smilewinkgrin

Update 11/03/08...finally in remission!!  Hope I don't jinx myself.  Off the prednisone since 11/01/08...now see if I can stay off for longer than two weeks.  Other meds: 6MP (75 mgm), colazal (6 per day), Benicar and Toprol (high blood pressure meds), Probiotic (2 per day), fish oil capsule and multi-vitamin and calcium with vitamin D.

It sounds like a hemmie situation. If you're starting to flare, you will likely feel discomfort higher up & start passing mucus in addition to blood. However, it's best to check with your gastro-- especially if you have to keep straining to expel all the poop, as you described above. You might need some diet modification or more fluid intake to make your stool easier to pass. I take Colazal, too, & find it can be very dehydrating at times, which then also affects bms. Steamed veggies, yams in particular, have helped me to overcome that. It's also possible to have bloody reactions to Rowasa even though one has used it successfully in the past. Hope you'll be able to sort this out ASAP. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently recovering from flare in sigmoid colon)

I agree that it might be hemmoroid related but never assume anything with this disease. By all means mention this to your doctor.
