That is what is says on today's report!

I had my third colonoscopy in 5 weeks this afternoon. It seems I am hard to figure out just by talking. My colon was looking much better.

For now, I continue with the nightly enemas and I get to start to taper off the prednisone! This makes me so happy. I go down one pill every four days starting tomorrow.

I also get to start adding foods to my diet one at a time. I can't wait for this but I don't know where to start.

Right now I eat:
chicken
rice
broth
white potato
apple sauce
yogurt
white bread with sunbutter
sunflower seeds
juices, ensure, tea and some gingerale because I love it and it is the only treat I was able to hang to

I can not eat bananas (they make me very ill) or any fish (allergies) and when I ate a little beef this week I didn't feel so well. I plan to add some spinach today. I want fruit and veg so bad!

Any ideas are welcome.

60 mg prednisone (started at 30 but was doubled immediately) Mar 5/09
salofalk enemas = 5-aminosalicylic acid (mesalamine) added March 24/09 after second colonoscopy showed not enough progress ( previously managed proctitis with same stuff as suppository and then enema in 06)

Yes, congratulations on remission. That is a huge step. I am curious about the foods you listed. Did you determine these were the things that worked best for you or was it something your doctor recommended? After tapering off pred. will you be on any maintenance drugs? Enjoy adding those new foods........I hope you only feel better from here.

The foods I listed are the only things I have been eating for the past month. I had been eating more, but I was told by my doctor to reduce further because I wasn't making enough progress and I was to go as easy on my colon as possible until I went into remission. I haven't even been able to put cooked onion in my foods.

He told me today to start adding foods but he didn't suggest anything in particular. I know I want to try spinach because I love it and I have read good things here. I want to eat some fruit and veg and I am just not sure where to start.

Thanks for the well wishes!

Congratulations! One thing I ate a lot of last summer when my diet was similarly restricted was avocado. Maybe something to try? Cooked carrots and peas were also okay, and baked sweet potato fries (brushed with just a little olive oil). But spinach is a great place to start -- enjoy!
