Maybe OT....but recent ultrasound showed moderate fatty liver infiltrates.  I don't drink so could this also be caused by UC?

There are many causes of fatty liver, including alcohol, pregnancy, diabetes, obesity, and consuming too much HFCS.

It is also a complication of IBD.

Some Colitis medications can cause liver disease (including fatty liver).

Thankfully, fatty liver is a reversible condition.

Currently in remission
Don't expect your doctor to cure your health problems. Your health is your responsibility.

Lexapro (for stress), Probiotics and Vitamins (a whole bunch of them)
Avoid HFCS, foods high in fructose, artificial sweeteners
When flaring: eat anti-inflammatory foods, avoid pro-inflammatory foods
Previous treatments: Fecal transplantation (worked), Prednisone (stopped working), Colazal (stopped working), Asacol (stopped working)

I don't think fatty liver related to UC is reversible in the way that it will totally go away....but you must firstly find the cause and if it is indeed related.

What did your doc say about it?

Have you had blood tests done as well?

Quincy--yes, I have had blood work, but not any kind of liver panel. I think the fatty liver infiltrates was looked at as an "incidental" finding and everyone I have seen so far is focused on what is going on with the colon.

Thanks for your input guys.

So, what's the next step for testing according to the doc?

No next step. My doctor didn't even tell me they had found this. I was taking my records to a specialist he recommended and happened to read it for myself. Neither he nor the specialist seemed concerned in the least so I was just curious.....

I had to go to my gastroenterologist today due to slightly elevated ALT and AST liver enzymes. My gastro doctor did not seem so concerned about it as it was barely elevated. She feels most likely it is my medicine I have been taking as I take 6 Asacol a day which can cause it, and I have been on two antibiotics over the past 4 weeks. But since the doctor's office I went to found it they put a note on the lab results to see a gastroenterologist for further evaluation. She said to ease my mind as she didn't think I had any liver disease she had 5 vials of blood drawn to do another comprehensive metabolic panel and 8 others tests strictly of the liver.
