I just started taking hydrocortisone suppositories last Wed.     1 a night 25MG for 2 weeks he said.
I was doing ok until sunday when I started having bad D, and often(hadn't had that in awhile), and today more D and stomach pains.  I put the suppository in last night before bed, but the D made it come right out after 15 minutes or so.
So, my question is how do you know when your symptoms are part of your UC, or a bout of the flu(which this feels like) Could it be a reaction of the hydrocort?
Also should I bother trying to put in the suppositiry again tonight if I still have active D?

Ulcerative proctitis. On Asacol 3 3x a day, and Meslamine enemas nightly.
Now on Hydrocortisone suppositories for 2 weeks.

Urgency is still my biggest problem.  rarely have D, but extreme gas and urgency at any given time.

I just blame everything on the UC, except when I run a fever. Then I know my bodies trying to fight off something else. Flu typically gonna knock you out for a day or two though.
Proctitis DX 1999, Pancolitis DX 2008
Lialda 1 day
Immuran
Golimumab study (100mg every 4 weeks)

Do you have a fever, head ache, chills? Are you feeling extremely tired?

Or are you just experiencing diarrhea and cramping?

Don't expect your doctor to cure your health problems. Your health is your responsibility.

Lexapro (for stress), Probiotics and Vitamins (a whole bunch of them)
Avoid HFCS, foods high in fructose, artificial sweeteners
When flaring: eat anti-inflammatory foods, avoid pro-inflammatory foods
Previous treatments: Fecal transplantation (worked), Prednisone (stopped working), Colazal (stopped working), Asacol (stopped working)

No fever, extremely tired, not hungry. I don't have cramping, I get a upper stomach ache and then within a few have to go to the bathroom.

Now on Hydrocortisone suppositories for 2 weeks.

I'd give it until tomorrow evening and if you're not better by then, either suspect the suppository or that it's a flare. Really, I think the only way to tell is time. GI bugs tend to clear up within 24-48 hours. Then I'd probably call the doc and ask about stopping the suppository and see if that helps. I really hope it's not a flare!
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, 40mg 30mg 20mg 15mg 10mg 10mg of Prednisone every other day, Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).

firstly.....please remember that the FLU or influenza is only in the respiratory system....not gastro...I apologise to be a broken record of it.

It's very possible you ate something that didn't agree or that you've picked up a gastro bug.

But, it could also be that the hydrocortisone suppositories aren't enough....

Have you eaten anything different in the past day or 2?

Any new supplements?

Hope this passes soon and that it's not UC-related.

Quincy, nothing new except for the hydro. I think if it was something i ate, it would be out of my system by now.(with all that D it would have to be.)
I know everyone confuses the flu with other bugs, so I really should have said bugf, not influenza.
I'll give it another day and see what happens.
Thanks all.

Hi...you could also add a fibre supplement and make sure you're taking probiotics if it was indeed a bugaboo :-) or food.

Hope that you feel better soon.

On Saturday nite, 3 a.m. I had 2 bouts of diarrhea. I was up....so maybe if I was sleeping it would have lasted till I got up. Regardless...I felt totally crappy and had to take Bentylol and Gravol (dramamine) to help with the nausea...ugh, I also had chills. Don't exactly know what it was, but the next morning all was fine with normal bm...and so far, so good.

Keep us posted as to how you're feeling.
