Good morning

Just wondering if anyone has heard of Xango Juice, or ever tried it.  It is juice made from Mangosteen fruit and is suppose to help alleviate symptoms of a variety of diseases including UC and Crohns.  A friend of mine recently gave me a bottle to try, and curious if anyone has used it and if so did it help.

Hi Cheeky

I am trying to figure out about this amazing fruit. Even though I could get some information from one of the websites, www.magosteenfruitinfo.com, but would like to have some more. I would ask my mother, as my grand father was a naturopath.

Did you know that the mangosteen…

is a tropical fruit from Asia?
is the national fruit of Thailand?
contains 43 of the more than 200 xanthones found in nature, and that the name "xanthone" comes from the Greek word “xanthos,” meaning yellow?
is really called Garcinia mangostana in scientific circles?
belongs to the scientific family Guttiferae, which is the same family as St. John’s Wort?
was named by the French explorer and physician Laurentiers Garcin, who called it “more cordial than the strawberry?”
is rich in antioxidants?
is recommended for use in preventive maintenance for the body?
is not a mango?
has a rind that is used in tanning and dyeing?
is mentioned in Chinese medical accounts dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368 A.D.-1644 A.D.)?
has been used by tens of thousands of people for medicinal purposes for hundreds of years?
weighs generally about 80-140 grams?
usually contains only 2-3 seeds?
comes from a tree that can grow to a height of up to 75 feet?
grows on a tree that takes up to ten years of cultivation in order to bear fruit, and produces fruit twice each year
twigs from this tree are used in Ghana as “chew sticks”?
is claimed by some to be the best tasting fruit in the world?
has been said to have been Queen Victoria’s favorite fruit?
is known as the “food of the gods” and “queen of fruits” in some areas around the world?

Title: Freedom From IBS

For years I was troubled. The problem only got worse. I was apprehensive about leaving the house in fear of an "episode." The doctor was on the verge of prescribing me a drug containing opiates. The episodes occured 5-6 times a week.

6 weeks after beginning use of the whole fruit puree of mangosteen ... I was overjoyed to find myself FREE from IBS. Two years later, I'm am still loving the mangosteen and feeling wonderful.

Tastes great, is not bad for you, is expensive, and did not change the colon for us at all! Have a Zango distributor as a friend, ans she believes in Tinker Bell and spontaneous healing from her juice. Who knows...

Thanx for the replies.  I figure it wont make things any worse so why not give it a try.
I have been on Remicade for about 1 year.  It started out great, went right into remission, everything was good...the last few infusions have not been as effective, and I am fighting a flare right now.

Yes, there are distributors for this, but I bet you can find either at Costco. Neither juice didn't perform any miracles for the folks around me that bought it; their ailments still exist four years later.

Don't expect your doctor to cure your health problems. Your health is your responsibility.

Lexapro (for stress), Probiotics and Vitamins (a whole bunch of them)
Avoid HFCS, foods high in fructose, artificial sweeteners
When flaring: eat anti-inflammatory foods, avoid pro-inflammatory foods
Previous treatments: Fecal transplantation (worked), Prednisone (stopped working), Colazal (stopped working), Asacol (stopped working)

Used it for three months. Researched and discovered there are other mixed juices out there just as good and not overpriced like the xango. I never did get an answer from the company whether I could use it in an enema or not, lol!!

How is Aloe Vera Juice. I think that is much cheaper and more effective.

There was quite a discussion on here a couple years back about consuming Aloe Vera; as with most holistic and pharmacuetical meds, it worked for some and not others. The one thing that was emphasized in those threads is that the aloe vera juice can cause more diarrhea so you should use the aloe vera gel instead. I haven't tried either so I can't give you tried and true evidence but I can tell you I read a lot of posts on it! Remember if you want more info on this to start a new thread or find the old one by searching for it.

I was taking the Aloe Vera gel for over a year but a few weeks ago I switched to the (whole leaf) juice.

A lot of health food stores are pulling the gel off their shelves as it allegedly contains a carcinogenic ingredient.

Apparently, the thickening agent that turns juice into gel is carageenan. and is strongly suspected as the culprit.

Oops. Even I had not tried it before my surgery, so I should not have suggested Aloe Vera in the first instance. It is only based of hearsay. But there are some places in India, where people are cooking Aloe Vera pulp. Because of its benefits, the organizers at flower shows have been distributing it free of cost to visitors.
