A wonderful topic to start a Wednesday off!

I don't even know what normal stool colour is now that my bleeding has stopped?

I can't really say mine is dark brown. It's definiteley brown but has more of an orange tint to it. Is this still considered normal? I certainly wouldn't call it pale or clay coloured.

Should I be getting this checked out?

I do take Metamucil Smooth Orange....yumm.

Mine is really dark since taking iron. Guess I am not too helpful. I hope it is nothing to worry about.
You could look on google, I am sure you can find info on the different shades of stool idea

LOL...yep, the orange Metamucil can change the colour of it somewhat.....bile is what makes it that nice brown,

Food choices will also change the colour....some bms will have different stool colours..even on the same stool..depends on how long the stool making process takes in the digestive tract.

Perhaps I should give the Metamucil a break and see what color my stool is?

There isn't much brown...more like a dark oak color...lol!

Neuro appt was fine. Interesting fella. All the basic tests were passed with flying colors.

I wouldn't necessarily give the fibre supplement a break unless you plan on switching to another one right away cuz this means you're body will have to adjust when you go back on fibre and if the fibre is helping you get formed stools then going off will (likely in a short time) bring on less formed-D consistancy or if you have constipation issues and you go off fibre all together then the C issues will return.

I'm sure the color (orange) that you're concerned about is likely nothing harmful but you can google "stool color" and find links regarding what different stool colors may be linked to for your peace of mind.

:)

I agree with not stopping the Metamucil....oak colour is still "brown".

Are you eating any meat? Protein is also what can give stool a darker colour..oh, and chocolate...lol!

I'd only worry if your stool were very light on a consistent basis.

Who was the neuro...happy to hear it went well.

When do you go back for results?

Still the dark oak colour  rolleyes

Doesn't really seem to matter too much lately with what I eat, color stays consistent. May have to up the dose of Metamucil...things aren't all that formed any more. How many tbsp do people usually take? I think my GI said 2 TBSP a day.

Quincy,

The neuro was Dr Gomori. Really enjoyed my visit with him. A very nice man. I'm assuming results for the blood would be back by Friday...I forgot to ask. Lab is in the same building so I assume things would be pretty quick.

Going out to a nice meal tonight as my wife's parents are in town for a presentation he is receiving for all his volunteer/community service work in their town. Rich food...can't wait for the reaction!

Hope you have a nice night

I took 2 - 3....but you can start the capsules with breakfast....as well.

I've heard of Dr. Gomori...I think a client of mine sees him.

Nice to hear the visit went well....

Enjoy supper and the celebration with your in-laws.

Looking forward to hearing about the multi-coloured stools...haha...
