I had my yearly GI visit today. I told him that I have occasional D and that I had mucus earlier this week and last week. He agreed that in general I!'m doing really well but considering the random symptoms he decided I should try colazal in place of asacol to see if I respond any better to it.
I'm so sad though!! This was my second to last appointment with this GI. I go to a pediatric clinic and since I'll be 21 in December I'll have to switch over to an adult GI. :(

Well hopefully you will like your new GI as well as your old. Just a FYI, you may notice an increase of symptoms after switching. I know I did but it didn't last long.

I was being more sarcastic. I only have to finals and they'll both be a breeze and effexor keeps me grounded :)

I'd say that Asacol vs. Colazal use depends on whether or not you have right-sided inflammation. Colazal is more helpful against left-sided inflammation because it starts dissolving in the transverse colon. Good luck with finals! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently recovering from March flare in sigmoid colon)

I guess he doesn't know 'for sure' that I'm having any symptoms from UC but suggested we try it. If it works, great if it doesn't go back to asacol kind of thing...
I'm not even up on UC medication much anymore because I haven't been on anything but asacol since 06! (not that that's a bad thing :) )

Trying Colazal 3 750mg x2 (NOT for a full blown flare, just some random symptoms)
25mg Elavil
75mg Effexor XR for GAD
Will possibly go back to asacol
