Has anyone every tried LDN, i've been reading that it is a miracle drug for Chrons and UCers if taken in a low dose (1-10mg compared to 100-300mg for other diseases).

Does anyone know of any side affects of taking LDN and if it is bad for UCers to take.  Everything that I have read seems a little sketch on line.

Thanks!

I'm on LDN now since 1/09, the doctor said Its beneficial for me even though right now I see no real improvement in my stools. Maybe my mood is better and maybe the inflammation that I had in my rectum is down, I'm still flaring. I was thinking of quitting, I don't know just yet.

Very mild left sided (could have fooled me with the "mild")  UC. STARTED LDN ON 1/25/09. Supplements:  Cod Liver, Probiotics, multi whole food vitamin, olive leaf extract.

I tried it about a month ago. It gave me severe muscle and joint pain. I could hardly walk. It was really weird and not a common side effect. I had to stop taking it and within a few weeks of stopping, the pain went away. I also was really tired while taking it. It can cause insomnia but it did the opposite for me. I just felt blah the entire time I was on it. I was bummed that I wasn't able to stay on it longer than a month to see if it would help with the UC.

From what I've read, LDN seems to be a little better for Chrons then UC.  I've also read that if you have liver problems then you shouldnt take it; I have PSC so I guess this was a waste of a topic idea
