I did the Doctors Data and as I wrote above, no yeast (same as in October) but sesitivity to some bacteria showed positive for and high inflammation. The natural supplements they said are better than prescription and was suggested:
Uva Ursi
Cypric Acid
Curcumin
Then a combo supplement of Stephania Tetraidra/boswellia-for inflammation

Who's on some of these and they help with the inflammation?

Hi...what exactly was in your stool samples that determined inflammation...just wanting to know how that was determined.

Remember, we all have bacteria in our colons...the balance has to remain in check.  So, what were the specifics that were stated?

Just some info on the Uva Ursi....  http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/uva-ursi-000278.htm

Please do the research on all of the proposed prescription.

Keep us posted on how you're doing on it if you decide to do so.

Anyway, you do have some bad bacteria - alpha haemolytic strep and mucoid E. coli as imbalances, and one that has reached the level of dysbiotic flora, E Coli ESBL, and they have given sensitivities for this - they say the naturals are better than any prescription medicine.  They suggest caprylic acid and uva ursi - how to get them is below.  You also have two strong markers for inflammation and a very high Secretory IgA, meaning your mucosa is inflamed and working very hard to keep your immune system from penetration by the pathogens which like to colonize.  You need anti-pathogen nutrients and anti-inflammatory nutrients

Quincy this is what my doctor wrote me, does this help? What should I take for my gut inflammation, I' in so much pain with the diarreah Ii can't take asacol or the others they make me poop my pants, I tried sulfa and that didn't get any better.

Hi....I don't know what to advise since I'm pretty much hardcore mainstream meds.

You should, however, do lots of research before you make the decision to take the proposed prescription....they are still "drugs".

I know your situation is fairly complicated regarding not being able to take certain meds.....It could be worth your try.

You should, however, be on probiotics.

I always feel crappy when I take fish oil....that could be an issue with you. Are you still taking it? You can eat the Omega 3 instead of taking the oil.
I know the data says it's good, but really...I don't feel good when taking it, gut-wise.

It wouldn't hurt to not take it for a while to see.

Hope someone else will chime in ....maybe create another thread enquiring in the title.

Sorry I can't be of much help....

I'm getting 3 different doctors to inturpet the test, we'll see what all they come up with. The 5asa for some reason make me nervous and I poop my pants always when driving, it's terrible. I was doing the canasa, went to renew without a prescription coverage almost $400, so I opted for the cortenema which was $292 and i only got half of the script and have been using one bottle for two nights. I'm on Krill oil now, which has more ogema 3 than 6 which is the anti inflammatory oil. I too feel fish oil gives me a bad gut. What if I have Chrons which is often miss, what meds do they give for chrons that would help the gut? Linda

Can they tell if it's Chrons from a stool sample? I've never heard of that before. I can't believe the results of your stool sample, it's all very interesting. I wonder what mine will say. I submitted one yesterday. I agree with Quincy about the probiotics. I use them and I am not sure how much they help but I also don't think they are hurting. Seems like we need fecal transplant to clear up some of these gut issues. I am at the point where I feel like nothing will help me. I am doing okay, can't complain, but I just had a horrible movement with lots of cramping. I guess this is the "norm" for me now.

Diagnosed with proctitis in March 2007 - Treated with Canasa 2x Daily
December 08 - Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9 a day)

I had some tests like that run while I was seeing a homeopathic doctor. When I had the colonoscopy, it did confirm I had colitis/diverticulitis. The best advice the homeopath gave me was probiotics and kefir. Now, I take colazal too. I was suspecting fish oil for flares too. I was taking it for high triglycerides, so I really needed to take it. I was on a lot of it though, like 4 grams. I may try to cut back and see if that helps.
They use a lot of the same meds for crohns and UC. These meds are expensive, even the generics. Sometimes the pharmaceutical companies have extra help programs, so check to see if you are eligible for those if you do not have health insurance. Good luck to you!

I do Lomitil just because my GI wouldn't give me Bentyl. Immodium said to help too. Lomitil usually takes an hour to kick in so at the first sign my intestines are gonna be overactive I take one.
Proctitis DX 1999, Pancolitis DX 2008
Immuran
Golimumab study (100mg every 4 weeks)
L-Glutamine 5000 mg + 600 mg pyridoxal alpha-ketoglutarate
Probiotis/VitD3+Ca/1000mg DHA

I've been taking boswellia for about 2 months now. I take pretty high dosage about 600mg 3 times a day, I also take other stuff as well like Bee Propolis, probiotics, a lot vitaminD, and low dosage of Sulfa I also do the spinach sunflower diet. I can't say for certain the boswellia is doing the trick, I do think it did help after jumping up the dosage. Probably takes at least a month to have full effect. Little did I know Colazal I was taking was actually making me worse. Here my natural treatments were fighting against Colazal's bleeding effects for over a month. These newer drugs aren't so great if you ask me.

My son had the DD stool test done a year back, the test showed similar results like yours - no yeast, dysbiotic flora, high inflammation, but he had a good amount of beneficial bacteria also. He took Uva Ursi and Kapricidin. They helped him right away - his primary symptom till that time was lot of rectal bleeding. He finished one course on uva and kaps lasting 2/3 months. After a month from stopping them, he again had a flare and a DD test taken at that time showed NO beneficial bacteria and dysbiotic flora. Though he was on probiotics, taken 2 hours away from taking antibiotic. He again started a course of Kaps and Uva ursi which helped him. Now, after a year, he has a major flare where the primary symptom is lot of diarrhea. A DD stool test taken now shows no dysbiotic flora, no beneficial flora, lot of inflammation, no yeast.

I think, Kaps or Uva ursi or both killed his beneficial bacteria. As you know each persons IBD seems different and it could suit you. Good luck!.
Son diagnosed with IBD in July 2007 when he was 5 yrs old.
Initial symptom rectal bleeding. Cannot take 5 ASA; steroid does not help much.
LDN and supplements helped achieve remission; Now flaring since Feb 09 with D
and bleeding.

I won't start this stuff until my course of antibiotics is done, it would be too much die off. Seriously, I feel like I've had it!

Is it really true that a person with very mild ulcerative colitas can have painful BM's? I have had mild leftsided UC since I was 20 and I am not turning 40 soon. I am having a flare up right now. I have usually had the constipation with blood and mucas in the past, but this time it has switched to loose bowels with lots of red blood and mucas. I have an apointment with my GI doctor on May 5. Seems like forever! In the meantime, the nurse called out Canasa suppositories. What do you know about them? Also, Is it common to not go as much when your intestines are inflamed? When I use the restroom, The quantity seems smaller in size. Thank you,

I have another question, Do you think that a bacterial imbalance can cause a flare up?

Yeah know about the imbalance, so far this doctor didn't say that. I have another appt with Dr. Sullivan tomorrow over the phone, who prescribed me my LDN and he's looking at the same tests results, I can't wait to see what he says. Should be very interesting. Then I have a 3 doc, allergist, going to read the results too. I've already started Cipro so hopefully this will help my situation. Canasa does work, but for me without prescription was $400 dollars. I have mild too, but I really think more than that is going on as you read. My body is causing the inflammation so the unbalanced bacteria doesn't invade the gut wall or get colonized. This is crazy, can't someone say, "here take this and you'll be normal?" I just don't get why I get such the run around.

I'd lean toward the Bentyl..start with 10mg because it can mellow you out a bit. Lomotil had me too stoned, and I only took it twice. It did help the diarrhea for a short while, but that was also long before my diagnosis.

Maybe for you, the imodium would be of help....a half in the morning maybe? YOu'd have to discuss it with the doctor..however.

How about fibre supplements?

Maybe you're a candidate for surgery? Sorry to bring that up, but it's always a viable option when your life is interrupted by UC.

Maybe consider to ask the doctor for a steroid medication ... topical...such as entocort and the hydrocortisone suppositories?

I'd nix the fish oil anyway..for a while. I think for me, it's too rich or something. maybe it's because my liver is involved with PSC and that has something to do with it...not being able to break it down.

You could add L-glutamine that's been suggested by others to strengthen the mucosal lining. Don't know what specifically to try, however, but I'm going to start looking into it.

Hope it gets worked out.....you're a lady on a mission. Keep us posted.

Just a question, but does anyone not have loose bowels, just cramping and the usual mucas with blood? And not so productive BM's? Just wondering, mine has always been this way since I was 20 when I have a flare up.. am I unusual?

My doctor said having mushy stool is ok. Whatever, to me it's not normal. Yes I have cramping, diarreah with blood always!!! I hate it. Sometimes I see skin/tissue too.

I usually only have this in the morning for about an hour and it seems to calm down... then sometimes late at night, before bed... I have not had a flare up for about a year or more... all of by BM's were like clock work.... at least 1 a day... then about 3 weeks ago I started feeling bloated again with then like over night I started bleeding and all of the symptoms again, only this time more diarreah.. then usual. When I go for so long with out a flare up, i think something must be really wrong with me when I do have a flare up... I also feel that my flare ups might be related to the seasons, mabey allergies? Have you had that? Does your blood and cramping ever leave, or are you just having a flare up right now?
