Hi Heather, did you take a look at my response to my post about my stool test came back? What do you think? If I have inflammation in the gut, how is UC meds going to get that if they are designed to by pass that and get to the colon? Any suggestions of other meds?

Very mild left sided (could have fooled me with the "mild")  UC. STARTED LDN ON 1/25/09. Supplements:  Cod Liver, Probiotics, multi whole food vitamin, olive leaf extract.

UC meds come in oral and rectal, either 5-ASA or steroid. Consider that UC starts at the rectum .... rectal meds can be invaluable.

Have you not been on any?

*Heather* Status: mild flare enemas tapered to every 2nd night
~diagnosed January 1989 UC (proctosigmoiditis)
~UC meds: Asacol (3 x2 daily); Salofalk enemas nightly for flares & taper to maintenance 
~Bentylol (dicyclomine) 20mg as needed; Ranitidine (reflux);  Effexor XR 75mg(depression);  Pulmicort/Airomir (asthma) 
~vitamins/minerals/supplementsProbiotics....(Natural Factors Protec, Primadophilus Reuteri Pearls, Natural Factors Ultimate). @ bedtime
~various digestive enzymes as needed; started Omega 3 
~URSO for PSC (or PBC) 500mg X 2 daily (LFTs back to NORMAL!!)
My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS"  worth it !!!
