Hey all, I have a embarassing question to ask.
I've always experienced gas since being diagnosed. But lately i've been experiencing alot of wind, sometimes i visit the toilet and thats all that i pass. But without being graphic, i pass quite alot. Im just worried about whats going on in my colon, can this lead to toxic mega colon? is it indicating theres something more than UC that needs to be seen to?
Does anyine have the same symptoms?
Diagnosed in 2001,
Since then i have flared seven times,
Currently on Asacol 6 tabs a day. Recently diagnosed with osteopenia.

Global warming because of farts, that is what everybody would tease me, when I used to have wind. Jokes apart. Are you stressed. At times, stress causes too much of acidity, leading to wind/gas in the intestines. try ocid or pantocid/zintac.  How about taking fresh turmeric. If you can tolerate milk, try cold milk. It would help. Fresh lime soda, is another option. Keep us posted. I am sure you would be better soon.

Definitely stress can add to interfered digestion and cause you gas.

It could be that you're heading for a flare if it's been increasing Are you having any sort of "straining" or urge to have a bm when you're on the toilet?

Have you added anything to your daily intake of food, supplements, etc?

Any artificial sweeteners in your diet?,,,even gum?

I would pass on the milk suggestion...

Are you taking any fibre supplements? Any probiotics?

The toxic megacolon would happen if you weren't able to expel the gas.....

You could try some peppermint tea, ginger tea or capsules...that could help with the gas. Or, Gax-x.

If you have any rectal meds....you might consider to start them if this continues or if your symptoms procede to where you recognise it's an early flare.

An overgrowth of candida - or some other gut imbalance - combined with a diet high in sugar and starches can cause excess gas.
Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis spring 1999.

Maintenance dose sulfasalazine. Probiotics, l-glutamine, vitamin D and fish oil caps. George's aloe vera juice. Oregano oil antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal. Mostly grain-free and dairy-free diet. Long-term remission with only minor blips.

Thank you all for your replies.

I do have quite a bit of sugar in my diet but nothing more than usual and i've had the condition for years now. Im worried about it being something more serious causing it. As i'd say im mildly flaring and havent been in remission completly since my last flare in october. I should be having a coloscopy soon but im holding out, realy dont want any more bad news as i have has a real jinxed past few months with everything going wrong health wise!
