It's been 24 hours since my first dose, I feel so much better today. No burning butt can you believe it? Also, though I stopped one type of probiotics that had lactic acid in them and I don't want to try them again in case it was the probiotic giving me the trouble.
The doctor is concerned (OBGYN) since I've been having microscopic blood in my urine and now this is my 2 UTI in 4 months, (so ladies if you have any suggestions or ideas what's going let me know) he may want to send me to a uroligist.

My one doc said with the "imbalances of bacteria in my gut" cipro should help with that. Make sure I take my probiotics and it wouldn't hurt to take a Diflucan to make sure yeast doesn't grow. But now with all the pooping I have this little skin tag, it's real little, right inside my butt and comes out when I poo. It  hurt real bad before, now it hurts a little, it was almost like where my fissure was bleeding or it was bleeding from this little tag. What the heck is it?

Also, my second consult with my doc who prescribe my LDN is today in a hour and we'll see what he says about my stool results. It will be interesting if two professionals come up with the same results and recommendation. I'll keep you posted.
Very mild left sided (could have fooled me with the "mild")  UC. STARTED LDN ON 1/25/09. Supplements:  Cod Liver, Probiotics, multi whole food vitamin, olive leaf extract.

I might have asked you before, but has anything changed in your sex life? That can be a big trigger for UTIs.

I kept having UTIs (pretty much related to intercourse, as it was after my DH and I started dating and were pretty active, and I hadn't really been sexually active before then), and was finally sent to a urologist. He determined (via ultrasound) that my bladder doesn't empty completly when I pee. It's not bad enough to do anything about (not sure if there's really anything that can be done, though!), but it does make me more prone to UTIs. So, now I just take one macrobid after intercourse and I've not had one since then.

I tried using cranberry pills, but they didn't do anything for me, and drinking enough cranberry juice to help was too much acid for my stomach to handle. I also urinated before and after intercourse with no success.
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).

Glad I could help! Have you been really careful about peeing before and after? If you haven't, that might be enough to keep you from getting them. Also, make sure to wipe from front to back so you don't spread bacteria up where it doesn't belong! If you keep having problems, though, I'd definitely recommend you see a urologist. Knowing why I get them, and the best way to prevent them, has been great! I don't really like the idea of taking antibiotics like that, but, it's much worse overall to get UTIs all of the time and then be on antibiotics for a week to 10 days.

how does a uroligist exam you and is it painful? I guess that's what I'm afraid of.

Mine wasn't painful at all, but all he did was an ultrasound to look at my bladder, then had me go pee, then repeated the ultrasound. He suspected that's what was going on after talking to me, though. I guess it all depends on what type of exam they feel is necessary.
