Last summer I had a bleeding ulcer which gave me black stools, this past month I have had the same thing again which has resulted in my Hemoglobin going down to 9.7 and it has been like that for 6 weeks.

The biopsies for Crohns on the Ulcer were negative but the doctor is not ruling it out given that it keep coming back.

How likely is it to be Crohns? Anyone else have Ulcers in the stomach?

I have no pain or anything and now feel well.

Any help in trying to get my Hemoglobin higher would be much appreciated. Anyone else have this problem even when they aren't bleeding?

Diagnosis Oct 07: Mild Crohn's Colitis. Also suffer from bleeding Peptic Ulcers. By the grace of God currently in remission. Current Medication: 800mg Asacol Tablets x 2 a day. VSL#3.

Hi LR

There is already a thread on low hemoglobin/anemia. I have also given some suggestions on the same. In case you want natural cure, then you may consider trying Mint Leaves paste. Another very good thing is Pomegranate Juice. Red Carrot and beat root juice. Banana may also be helpful for some.

You may consider Ferrum/Iron capsules after consulting your doctor.
