last night at midnight I had violent chills and a 102 fever.
Now I was running fever with my colitis for 3 months but I "think" I'm in remission.
I am just SO sick of being sick and telling everyone I am sick! I thought I was better! I've been out of the hospital for 2.5 weeks and felt GREAT the last
week.
37 year old mom of 2.

Diagnosed with Ulcerative Proctitis 1995 (24 years old) / Ulcerative Colitis in 2000 (29 years old)
In remission for 4 years from 2005 - 3/2009 with colazol maintenance only.

Hospitalized for flare 3/23/09 - 3/25/09. Hospitalized 2nd time for same flare 4/17 - 4/22

Current Meds: Remicade, Apriso 4/day, Prednisone 10mg per day, Rowasa Enemas 2/day, Culturelle

Had 1st Remicade infusion in the hospital 4/22/09, 2nd infusion 5/7/09 (I think the first infusion put me in remission!)

I used to always get bad chills when I was on Pred, but I never took the temp- although it happened a lot in the hospital and I think they kept me until my fever broke. I am a big fan of reading the medication information for the section that says: call a doctor if...

I hope you can pull out of this... Gosh, we must be why health care is such a booming business! :(
UC (Pancolitis... 90%!) December 2001
Arthritis (2003)
Upper GI Ulcer (2006)
Osteopenia (2008)
Depression/Anxiety (2002)

Meds:Bump up every couple years... You name it, I've used it! Sulfasalizine, Asacol, Rowasas, Pentasa,
Remicade, 6mps... And now it looks like the once daily Lialda taken twice a day isn't enough...
Here comes Humera.

Soon to be mom- hopefully! As long as this flare dosen't take me out...

I just tapered down to 10mg of prednisone, maybe my colitis is acting up again or its a side effect of tapering down! I guess I'll call my GI on monday if it continues

Weird! I had been feeling better and was almost back to normal after a flare and a flu. And then last night I had really violent chills as well and my temp shot up to 103.8. Then today I felt better until about 5 and now my fever is back up to 101 even though I took tylenol and ib proufen.

If it makes you feel better I've had either a cold, the flu or a flare for every round of exams this semester.

Avoid taking aspirin and ipobrufen if you have colitis. Take acetaminophen (Tylenol) instead.
Joy - 47 yrs and counting
Colitis Dec 06 (also have IBS)
Currently in remission
Don't expect your doctor to cure your health problems. Your health is your responsibility.

Lexapro (for stress), Probiotics and Vitamins (a whole bunch of them)
Avoid HFCS, foods high in fructose, artificial sweeteners
When flaring: eat anti-inflammatory foods, avoid pro-inflammatory foods
Previous treatments: Fecal transplantation (worked), Prednisone (stopped working), Colazal (stopped working), Asacol (stopped working)

My GI just told me about ibuprofen, I had no idea! I'm taking Tylenol! I am SO sick! This sucks, I've been sick for 3 months, feeling great for 2 weeks and now
I am sick as a dog. I wonder if its because I'm tapering down on the prednisone?
