I think I'm in remission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After the bout of food poisoning, things got "loose" again.  Not so much that I felt nervous about being away from a bathroom because the urgency wasn't bad, but I was having diarrhea about 4-6 times a day.  Anyway, I don't know if it was because I started eating avocadoes again, or because it just took that long for my colon to heal after the food poisoning (I'm convinced it takes our colons longer to "get over" something like that) but I've had 1-3 completley formed, completely non-urgent BMs since Thursday!  It's silly how proud I feel!

I see my GI again on June 4th, but I'm considering trying to start tapering the Rowasa before my appointment.  He's on vacation right now, so I can't call and get his opinion over the phone.  Thoughts from those with experience would be greatly appreciated!
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).

I suggest you stay on the rowasa nightly for a week after you're feeling "normal"....then only taper to every second night for about a month.

My suggestion...you can taper quickly...but you may be back to nightly soon enough.

I had an extremely mild flare last Christmas, but tapered too fast and ended up back to square one...I'm now on every third night for this month....

Your body will tellyou what you need anyway....
As long as you have the prescription refills for Rowasa...do what you need to do.

Glad you feel well.

Thanks, quincy! I was hoping you would chime in! I'm not too worried about how quickly I taper, so your suggestion sounds good.

Only we can appreciate what it means to have solid poopies again! But it's always wise to whisper that you're in remission! Your colon may hear you and feel you are being overly confident and knock you down a notch or two! Just joking :)
