I have a weird concern. I started to have problems again about a week ago - I was seeing a lot of blood and going to the bathroom 20-25 times. After 2 1/2 days I called the doctor and he put me on steroids and now I am feeling better - still going 6-10 times a day all loose but no blood. He wants to do a scope on Monday and I don't want him to say - oh well it looks pretty mild again because of the steroids. I guess what I am saying is I want him to see my colon when it is bad so he knows what is really going on.

Does that make sense? It seems like I get really bad quick and sometimes I get a lot better really quick. My blood work through out the last year has been horrible but the last scope I had he said it was the most mildest case he had ever seen.

Is this a stupid thing to worry about?

As a side question I have choices in TriLyte flavors orange, lemon lime, citrus berry, cherry, or pineapple. Any one have experience with a good or bad flavor? This is a really big jug. They used to just give me two little tiny bottles of stuff to drink. cry

It's better to go in to be scoped when you are somewhat healed to avoid complications such as bowel preforation. I know we want for our doctors to see what this beast is really doing to us, but most good GI's already know this based on your history and symptoms.

I choose the orange flavor and it was so nasty that now I can't stand anything orange flavored or even orange scented cleaners. Good Luck. I couldn't hold it down and my husband had to call my GI the night before the test and I had to drink Magnesium citrate mixed with Sprite instead.

Do the flavorings contain artificial sweetners? I had GoLytely for my prep, and the flavoring packets had an artifical sweetner, so I used Country Time lemonade mix instead.
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).

I think Red_34 is quite right - your GI should have a good idea what's going on. In addition, going through the preparation process while in the middle of a flare can be quite painful. My GI was trying to get a handle on my condition and chose to have me undergo a sigmoidoscopy during a flare. Clearing out my colon prior to the procedure was quite unpleasant. Far more difficult than when my colon was in better condition. Not too keen on doing it again.

Not sure about the flavors but a few GI's have told me they can not scope you when you are too inflammed, they need to wait for you to heal somewhat before they can go in with the scope. Good luck.

My doc also knows not to scope me when I'm flaring. She knows I know what is happening and what I need (generally). Sounds like you do too. But many docs will want to play defensive medicine. Easy for them, not so for you!

If there is anything important/unusual going on, it will show up when you're feeling better too.

I suggest you avoid the scope until you feel as good as you think you can, then be sure to schedule regular (1-2 yr) colonoscopies...but it might be a little late this time to make that decision, since you have to prep tomorrow! I'm not familiar with the ones you mention.

Bad flare in March, used prednisone. Humira denied, started Remicade 4/12 and doing great~
