Anyone else have terrible gas pain from any UC medications or ?  My pain moves around so I know it is gas.  I took gasX pill and chewed some gasX and it is still hurting pretty bad right below my breast (sternum).  I do have GERD but never had this type of pain.  I just ate same breakfast as always and took my medications.

I get that ALL the time. Even more so now that I'm in remission. When gasx doesn't work for me I try laying on my left side. It sounds crazy but it really does work for me. We asked my GI about it once and it said normally its the right side but he said I know my body and what works.

calalilly22 I find that lying on my left side helps alot too. I get pain all over really but when I get the stabbing pain on my right I often find lying on my left helps, lying on my right is just agony.

I just complained to my doc about this(right where my bra goes around me in the front) Thursday, and he gave me a prescription for Pepcid, and it is working beautifully. He also ordered an upper Endocopy for me next week.
Ulcerative proctitis. On Asacol 3 3x a day, and Meslamine enemas nightly.
Now on Hydrocortisone suppositories for 2 weeks
Doc now has me on prescription Pepcid, and Questran. Just started that 05/15, so will wait and see.
Urgency is still my biggest problem, and extreme gas.  Blood is now gone.

Just good to know I am not alone.  I know because I have GERD this happens sometimes - extra gas.  When I can ly down it helps - sometimes just relaxing helps - sometimes moving around helps.  I take Prilosec every day for years.
I feel fine now.  Just wish I could feel as good mornings as I do evenings!
Going out to dinner with son and family.  Will have to choose wisely today.
Guess I will be glad to see the specialist next month - maybe he can help me more.

I get a lot of gas. Sometimes it is painful, sometimes it's just annoying. I hate when I am sleeping and I wake up and turn over and it somehow makes me have to pass wind. I wouldn't take gasx or anything of that kind. I am too worried it will make things worse or cause me to flare. I try not to take anything if I can avoid it but I know if you're in a lot of pain you don't have much choice. Last time I took a painkiller I had a relapse of my proctitis and it took 2+ weeks to get things back under control. I am sure it had nothing to do with the painkiller but it is a conicidence.
Diagnosed with mild proctitis in March 2007: Treated with Canasa (as needed)
December 08: Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9/day) + Canasa 2x/day - Anemic
May 09: Off Canasa, taking Asacol (9/day)
Back on Canasa every other night + Asacol (9/day) + Probiotics + Iron

I would PREFER not to take so much medicine but I have to function somehow.  All I take is ok'd by my gastro and primary care doctors and NP.  I also take Pepto bismal for nausea and Imodium when going out for cramping/D.  Works great!
