Well, I was worried that the doctor wouldn't see any inflammation but he said it got much worse. It is in my whole colon and the left side looks like crohns and the right looks like UC. I guess I just wait for the biopsies now.

I guess it is two sides to the coin - if it is crohns I have some more treatment options if it is UC then eventually I can have surgery......

I wonder what the chance is it is neither and something curable and my doctor is just insane - okay I know close to zero...

by the way for the prep I recommend the lemon lime - kind of like soapy sprite - not as bad as I thought it would be. I guess I am too used to spending my evenings in the bathroom. And by the way quiney, if you read this, my doctor after a year and a half now recommends rectal meds - but I still have no UC in my rectum.

Jeez Jessica that doesn't sound so great but lets hope that the biopsies are more encouraging. If it'sjust UC it can be cured via surgery if necessary. I have pancolitis which involves the entire colon and at one point 05/2007 my scope showed it was severe in some places but now with the right meds when/if it flares its mild...hope this helps and feel better soon!!!
Moderate Pancolitis

Hi Hana...sucks for the diagnosis being so obscure..but seems more as it would with CD considering the complete sparing of the rectum. Or, is there some inflammation, but not active?

LOL regarding the rectal meds....

for sure he said NO inflammation at all...meaning perfectly clear...in the rectum?

Hope he took tons of biopsies.

When do you go for the results?

Yes, I have never had any in the rectum - my doctor said 5% of UC people don't have any there. But he said the Rowasa could still help the left side. I am going to try them - I just hope I can retain them for a while. He gave me Entocort for the right side and he said my middle isn't so bad so hopefully I can avoid prednisone but I am supposed to go to a cruise to Alaska in two weeks and my stomach hurts so bad!!!!!!! I might just go on it so I can enjoy my vacation.

I get the biopsies back on Wed afternoon. He said he took a lot of them.

quincy - do you think the Rowasa will get most of my left side?

Hi...I don't know how high the Rowasa will actually go, but you can try to possibly prop a pillow or more under your pelvis and lean a bit to the left. There are some who do it that way and claim success.

Regarding the cramping/pain....you should ask the doc for an antispasmodic..even dicyclomine 10mg will be helpful.

You say your stomach hurts.....are you eating?
When do you take the align?

Make sure when you insert the Rowasa, it's all the way in and then start squeezing. Make sure you're on your left side with your butt propped and stay that way for at least a half hour.

Keep us posted as to the results of your biopsies. I strongly suggest you get a copy of them to keep for your records. Truly...it's cool to actually see what was written rather than the doc saying...it's all OK.
