Hi everyone most people will know I've been posting on here for a while,I've been on Imuran for nearly two years, with limited sucess its kept me out of hospital, but no where near symptom free, then strangely two weeks ago I had the worst ever cramping and bad gas, direaha and then passed an enormous blood clot followed by black stool, followed by an evening of gushing fresh red blood (sorry to be so graphic )
Anyway since then I've completely symptom free for a whole 2 weeks its like a miracle, like I never had uc,or like I imagined remission would be but never got anywhere near,my GI can't account for it he just said oh your UC has never played by the rules!, so I FEEL GREEERRRREAT ! its scary, I've even had my period the last three days that ussually sends my UC right up the wall,I've done a full week at work,
Anyways I just wanted to share and thank you Guys! for all your advice and support,I love reading all the post, picking up tips, and picking up myself,by realizing that your all out there dealling with the same and worse
THANKS ANNELISE

Good for you Anna! Love the graphic images, especially the clot tongue

I hope you remain UC free. Are you going to get a scope to see if the inflammation is healed/healing? Are you going to continue maintenance medications? I hope I can stop taking medications some day but I would rather take the medication then end up with an awful flare. Did you ever have stool tests and biopsies? Could you have had something bacterial?
Diagnosed with mild proctitis in March 2007: Treated with Canasa (as needed)
December 08: Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9/day) + Canasa 2x/day - Anemic
May 09: Off Canasa, taking Asacol (9/day)
Back on Canasa every other night + Asacol (9/day) + Probiotics + Iron
Reducing to 6 Asacol/day + Canasa at night + Probiotics + Iron - So far so good!!!

Hi I had my last scope 6 months ago which showed no inflamation in the rectum or sig but still very inflamed down the left side 35cm,I am going to continue on Imuran as I'm terrified I'll have a massive flare, and end up having surgery if I stop taking it.I don't think the pentasa made any difference for me,and I don't think I need rectal meds at the moment as there seems to be nothing going on at the tail end inateand I haven't had any urgency for quite a while.I did suspect that maybe I had IBS as well as UC but if that was the case,I can't understand how all my symptoms could literally disapear overnight,
I haven't made any changes to my diet recently which is just simple at the momment, trying to aviod to much sugar, fizzy drinks,I can't seem give up bread, which I always thought might be contribruting to gas and bloating probs. In the uk they don't seem to do stool and bacteria tests as standard but I will definatly ask my GP about them next time I see him I'm not due another scope till october,so I think bestl left alone for now,I'd really almost given up trying anything else to put myself into remission, I've been so disapointed so many time,I've been just putting up with it,I'm even due to talk to a surgeon on the 11th june,I dunno this disease is just a mystery.
