anyone know the clinical reason for rumbling, gurgling sounds in the gutt with this disease?  Mine makes the same noises almost the same time of the day (around an hour so so after dinner).  It usually comes from the same area, too - can feel it in the same spot.  Is it the digestion process perhaps working its way through the inflamed area of the colon?  Also, why does the first bowel movement of the morning always produce the exact same sounding gas?  another area of inflamation - toward the end!!?

I have IBS and used to hear those rumbling sounds all the time. I don't hear them anymore, not after I changed my diet. If I eat something containing artificial sweeteners such as sorbitol, it will sound like there is a thunderstorm in my abdomen. So I avoid artificial sweeteners. I also don't eat anything high in fructose, don't eat anything containing HFCS, limit how much sugar I eat, and will sometimes take Lactaid if I eat cheese or chocolate, depending on how much I eat.

The rumbling is due to excess fluid.

I also used to have tons of gas. Now I don't.

Colitis Dec 06 (also have IBS)
Currently in remission
Don't expect your doctor to cure your health problems. Your health is your responsibility.

Lexapro (for stress), Probiotics and Vitamins (a whole bunch of them)
Avoid HFCS, foods high in fructose, artificial sweeteners
When flaring: eat anti-inflammatory foods, avoid pro-inflammatory foods
Previous treatments: Fecal transplantation (worked), Prednisone (stopped working), Colazal (stopped working), Asacol (stopped working)

Mine is constantly rumbling, gurgling into the evening hours...even if I have a BM. It continues through the night and into early morning hours after I have my BM. Don't think I'm hungry but it makes all these weird noises just the same. I've got Ulcerative Proctitis and GI says I also have IBS.

It does seem to behave pretty well during the day, thank goodness. :)

Antispasmodics can help the rumbling...(excessive spasming/movement)
