Has anyone else had a bad experience with phone calls from Remi Start?  I find their marketing shady and deceptive, but maybe I just had a bad experience.  I got a phone call from one of their reps yesterday, and she never identified herself as calling from Centocor, but said she was calling "on behalf of Dr ____ (my GI)."  Also, I think it's pretty crappy that they are calling me at my work number, but that's beside the point.  The entire time, the person calling me is quoting insurance information as if they were my insurance company, all the while not correcting me when I ask them why I wasn't contacted earlier if there was a problem with my insurance.  After scaring the crap out of me by quoting my out of pocket costs (they had my personal information because they are calling from the drug company), I later find out they're trying to sell me something.  When I contacted my insurance company, I find out my claim wasn't even processed yet!

I don't even know if Remi Start has the potential to be a decent program because I was so turned off by their scummy methods of persuasion.  I'm just interested to know if anyone else has had good or bad luck with this kind of thing, and if it's a scam (I don't know if it is or not), to warn others about it.

I had something like that happen to me when I first started Remicade- my GI's office has a woman who handles all the insurance approvals & ppwk for Remicade, & they set everything up, said they had all the necessary approvals, & my first infusion was within a few days. about 2 days before the infusion I get a phone call from Access One, the ppl. who do the RemiStart program- they tell me they're calling on behalf of Dr. blah-blah, my GI, & that because I'm not getting my infusion at my doctors office, it wouldn't be covered, that I had to order the drug from 2 specific pharmacies, & unless the hospital I was going to used those pharmacies, I'd have to pay the full cost, etc, etc.... which was around $10,000! I freak out- to me, Remicade was my last great hope, it was that or surgery, & I was assured everything was all set by my GI's office. I call the hospital infusion center, asking them where they get the drug from, they use their in-house pharmacy, blah, blah... They tell me to call the Access One ppl. back & tell them that they can get the drug from whomever they please. Finally, I get a hold of the Access One ppl. again, totally upset & confused- & they tell me "Oh we made a mistake, the hospital you're using is in your network, so you're fine, everything is covered in full". I was PISSED....... and I let them know it too! They were apologetic, but still.... I've been on the drug for over 2 years now, & haven't heard a peep out of them or my insurer. I think they use scare tactics, to try & get ppl. to unwittingly enroll in their programs. My GI's office knew nothing about it, by the way.

They kept calling me all the time too, supposedly verifying my next appointments with my GI. I never understood what exactly they were all about- I never got around to returning their calls until the other day when I called to tell them I was off Remicade.

I left a message with my GI letting him know the situation.  If it's legit, he can give me more information, and maybe let them know they're being unclear and hurtful.  If it's not, he needs to know they're using his name to scare people into signing up for this program.  Remicade has been the only thing working for me for a long time.  It's a shame the company is shooting itself in the foot with such lousy marketing.
