Hello to everyone i was just wanting to let everyone know what i am going through and see if i can get any advice or comments. Ok well lets see this all started last year in 2008 when i did some lab work at my clinic my liver enzymes were elevated one sgot or ast was around 70 and my sgpt or alt was about 90, ok i know those were not that elevated but it really scared me i went to my pcp and he told me it could be due to my birth control pills that i was taking becuase by that time i have been taking them about 4 years so we did some more lab work i don't remember on that one exactly how they were but not much different from that they also did the hepatitis panel and that came out ok so of course i am still wondering what is going on so next we did an ultrasound and found that i had gallstones so we did go ahead and remove my gallbladder back in dec. of 08  and also did a byopsy of my liver they said it was slightly enlarged but everything looked ok and that loosing a little weight would help me as well, so again in march of this year i did more lab work and now my ast was 67 and my alt was 102 so i felt like here we go again everyone has to understand they scared me with the thought of cancer of the liver so i freaked out for about 4 months and was writing letters to my husband and son for quite a while so when these came back and one being more elevated i was so worried my insulin levels was high as well about 31.2 or so could that effect my liver enzymes?  so again in may of 09 i checked my liver functions and now my ast was 60 and my alt stayed the same. since my liver was enlarged and she said fatty liver and told me to loose weight and that would help that go down as well but i have read so many things that now i am so worried i am going to check it again in a month they started me on metformin so we will see if bringing my insulin levels down will help i would love to hear any thoughts or if anyone has went through anything similar that would be great for now i am just a mess. could having my gallbladder out just cause my liver to work harder and cause the enzymes to be elevated? or since they did do a byopsy could that effect my liver and cause them to be elevated ? so many questions.........

sorry, No answers from me. Just wanted you to know there are other forums and ways of looking up the things going on with your gallbladder.
Take care of yourself. Get to a good doctor and bring all of your info along, so that they can diagnose you properly. Sounds like competing symptoms. You keep good records and that should help.
