I bought some energy tablets from my local supermarket today, the brand is 'Red Kooga' made in the UK.  I've just checked the box and it says 'consult your doctor before taking if....undergoing steroid therapy'. The main ingredients are Ginseng, B Vitamins and Guarana.

I can't see why it would be necessary to check with my doctor, I'd rather just go ahead and take them, what do you think?

I don't believe you can buy energy in a tablet.  What you are buying is a drug that gives you the false sense of energy much like caffeine does.  True energy comes from eating right, exercising, and getting plenty of rest.  If the box says to contact a Dr. about taking it in addition to steroids you should at minimum ask your pharmacist.  The steroids the box might be refering to are anabolic but I wouldn't take the risk without double checking.

Some ingredient in the pep pills may interfere with or enhance the absorbtion of oral steroids, much like the effect grapefruit juice can have.

I'd normally concur that exercise, diet, and rest are all that's required for good energy and good health, with chronic illness, especially uc, I know I need an afternoon coffee most days -- despite eating well, resting, and exercising.

Definitely make sure you're taking in enough calories with a well balanced diet.

Guarana is double or triple the strength of caffeine. You might get jittery and feel more exhausted.

Really!! I'm glad I posted on here before taking them then, I'm shaky enough on the Pred as it is, I don't want that getting worse. I think I'll just stick with the Pro Plus caffeine tablets!
