Back from dreaded scoping.  First in 8 years and never will I go that long again - too much fear of unknown.

My new GI told me my entire colon was inflamed, and was suprised at this given my mild symptoms of a couple of BM's in the morning.  Maybe the prep is to blame?  What sent me over the edge was the fleet enema this morning - - never throughout the 2 days of drinking the cit, magnesia did I have cramping, bleeding, pressure in the bowel, etc but once I did the enema it was ugly - blood, mucous, etc.

My GI did 13 biopsies (uncommon this many?) and removed 2 polyps.  Said he didn't see any tumors (my biggest fear going in).  Said there were some areas with some "bumps"?  Is this inflamation or what's called inflamatory polyps?

Said he would get back to me in a couple of days (is this sooner than normal?) .  the results of the biopsy will be back Wednesday, but he said I would probably hear from him sooner (reason for alarm??).

Thanks to all you folks on this group for offering your advice along the way.

I had pancolitis dx from my last scope in Jan 2008. My latest scope - left sided only....so it improved as far as the depth of inflammation even though I am flaring pretty bad...

Not sure I would say there is anything to be alarmed about - I had some polyps removed a few times... I wouldnt freak out unless / until you hear something from your GI that is concerning...

I havent gotten my biopsies back yet from my scope last week....a bit nervous but not going to lose sleep yet.
Stats:35 yr old male. UC for 15 years.
location:North Western PA
DX: Left sided UC, most recent scope 5/20/09 UPMC Pittsburgh Presbeterian
Medications:20mg pred (as of 4/27/09), 12x pills Asacol per day, 100mg Imuran per day, 1mg Atavan per day (anxiety) when needed, 20mg paxil per day, Super-omega fish oil pills - 1x per day, Flax oil pills - 1x am, 1x pm, Culturelle probiotics - 2x am, 1x pm, Vitamin B-12 injections weekly.
Surgeries: Recent Endonasal brain surgery to remove non-cancerous hormone producing tumor on pituitary gland (and I am still more afraid of my UC!!)

My biopsies result came in after more than a week, that too the nurse called up and asked my pharmacy number to send the prescription, i got to meet with the GI only after nearly a month. I guess your is a better GI, a more concerned one. Dnt worry!

Symptoms: Mucus, blood, constipated (not always), Lots Gas
Also gifted with Hypothyroid & have calicum deficiency family history!
Also started Probiotic from 23 Mar & fresh Turmeric root from 25 March'09- stopped both on 10th May
