So it's been a long road for me and I am making progress but I have a question for anyone to respond.  I have been having formed stools...some thin and narrow, but no D and not any real other issues except gas during the night.  The question I have is that some of the stools have little flecks of blood....not alot, but definatley there.  Some days none, some days it is more noticeable.  I have not had a scope in 8 months.  Should I be concerned?  I was hoping it could be Hemmies, but since its wrapped up in the stool I did not know.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Blood was the first sign of my uclerative colitis and i get a lot of it, daily. Doesn't affect me much, but obviously speak to your doctor. I was under the impression that blood in the stool was one of the main symptoms or ulcerative colitis?

Sounds like you are still flared up quite a bit inside. All I know is I bleed a lot when I was taking Asacol and Colazal, soon as I stopped Colazal and switched to a low dosage of Sulfa, the bleeding stopped, but I also started to watch what I ate and took anti-inflammation supplements as well. Don't be surprised if some of them drugs are the cause of your bleeding, but most doctors won't believe you if you tell them.

could the little flecks be Asacol if you're on it?

It does sound like you're flaring...low in the rectum.

What meds are you on landcruiser?
If you have rectal meds...start them.

Concerned...well, we flare....sucks, but if you have your "ars"enal of meds, start them.

I always had a little blood, even when I was feeling good. It was the best I could do, until the Remicade put me in remission, And I'm talking about all these many years, that was the case.

I also have mistaken bits of asacol shell for blood, so agree that might be what you see!
49 year old female attorney, diagnosed UC/pancolitis 1985, no surgery but much suffering. Asacol maintenance for 20+ years; used prednisone & Rowasa for flares.  Probiotics (Ultimate Flora, 50 billion), salmon oil (omega-3) when I can remember.
August 2008 sought care of naturopathic doctor. Food sensitivity test showed wheat/gluten, other intolerances; eliminated wheat/gluten from my diet.
Bad flare in March, used prednisone. Humira denied, started Remicade 4/12 and doing great~ learning what normal is~ wow

Also agree on the Asacol... especially if it seems to be "wrapped" around the stool... it could be the casing of the pills that doesn't dissolve. Come to think of it, they should change the color of Asacol to something less troublesome....... in any case... I have the same thing... and sometimes blood on the tissue.

When my symptoms go from watery stools / d / and mucous to having formed stools, my hemorrhoids get worse because I am pushing harder....so I get a little blood on the paper...sometimes a lot of blood, depending on how bad they are... even though the stools are narrow you are pushing harder than when blowing out mucous. could very well be asacol shell bits in the stool itself, and residual blood from the roids on the paper?
