but urgency still there, and very loose stools, that is still considered a flare isn't it?

I noticed a few posts here where the bleeding stopped and they called that remission.  I'm confused, as my bleeding has stopped weeks ago, but all else is the same.
Ulcerative proctitis. On Asacol 3 3x a day, and Meslamine enemas nightly.
Now on Hydrocortisone suppositories for 2 weeks
Doc now has me on prescription Pepcid, and Questran. Just started that 05/15, so will wait and see.
Urgency is still my biggest problem, and extreme gas.  Blood is now gone.

If you're still having D and urgency, you're still in a flare; blood doesn't have to be present. I didn't have all that much bleeding, even when I was up to 15+ times a day.
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa every other night, Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).

You're welcome. I just read your sig and noticed you're not on any rectal meds. Can you not tolerate them? If you have proctitis, they should really help a lot.

I'm not bleeding, yet, either.  But I've had ulcerative proctitis for over ten years and I just know when I am flaring.  The pressure is very uncomfortable and I see the mucus in the stool.  So far my stools are formed and I went about three times today.  All I can do is watch my diet very carefully and hope the Cort enemas and Canasa work without going on that dreaded prednisone.
Sometimes I wonder if my falling really hard on my butt four years ago has worsened my condition.  Just a thought.

Diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis in 1998 in hospital
Hospitalized (2nd time) in May 2008
Update 11/03/08...finally in remission!!  Hope I don't jinx myself.  Off the prednisone since 11/01/08...now see if I can stay off for longer than two weeks.  Other meds: 6MP (75 mgm), colazal (6 per day), Benicar and Toprol (high blood pressure meds), Probiotic (2 per day), fish oil capsule and multi-vitamin and calcium with vitamin D.

rectal meds were bringing blood so I stopped them.
I will be trying the enemas again in a few days to see if it happens again.

I've never ever seen blood in my stools and I had been in a flare. Remission for me is no urgency and formed stools (to my satisfaction)
