Has anyone had this experience? I have a lot of urgency and accidents, no blood. I go in this Wednesday for my infusion. The only thing that I can figure that I can do is not eat ,any ideas. I'm thinking of asking my doc to start me at 7 weeks instead of 8.

I'm sorry to hear that.  I hope you can get back on it.

Sounds like a flare is coming on.
Pharmacy]<B><FONT color=blue>Diagnosed 8/99. Suffered for almost 10 years. I am currently on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and am nearing remission. I feel fantastic! I have lost so many years to this disease. <FONT color=red>HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THE SCD DIET? IT HAS PUT ME IN REMISSION AND I PLAN ON GETTING OFF THE ASACOL SOON TOO!

Doc wanted to put me on 6-mp or Remicade, but I refused to take the medications! For me, diet works...

My GI has changed me treatments from every 8 to 6 weeks.

Last time I got a bad flare at week 4...could of been that I reduced to 30mg of Pred but the day after the infusion I was better.

I'm currently on a 6 week schedule.

My GI has adjusted my Remicade schedule according to my symptoms as well. You should definately check into it.

I'm on a 6 week schedule too. I find there's 2 schools of thought re. Remicade dosing- even with the 6 week schedule, that last week before the infusion & the first week right after the infusion are pretty rough for me. For yourself, making it to week 7 isn't so bad- if you can deal with the symptoms, you may want to hold there for the time being. Because once you start getting symptomatice before week 8, it means the drug is losing effectiveness. And once you start shortening your infusion schedule, there's only so much frequency you can get the stuff. Know what I mean? For me, if I start having major symptoms at week 3 or 4, my GI wants to move me to Humira (which is a whole other issue due to insurance). When you start getting your infusions sooner & sooner, it's sort of like you hasten the process by which the drug is no longer helping you. BUT- that said, I'd definitely see about going on a 6-7 week schedule- that frequency may last quite some time for you.

diagnosed with UC '02
meds-
Asacol- 8 tabs/day
Remicade-10mgs/kg- since 4/07
Imuran- 150mgs/day

mjw; how long have you been doing the infusions? When I first started I too became a bit symptomatic the week before my eight week infusion. Now I can hold out no problem. It took about 6 months before my body adjusted.

I am now on a 4 week schedule. I just had an infusion this past Friday and have been having a rough time - some blood, stomach pains. My best weeks are weeks 2, 3 and 4.

I know this stuff has given me my life back, but my body is taking a beating.

Good luck everyone.
Presently on: 600 mg. Remicade every 4 weeks
                   Venofer infusion every 4 weeks
                   B12 every 4 weeks
                   15 mg. Methotrexate/injection weekly
                   12 Asacol daily
                   10 mg. Celexa daily
                   Zofran as needed

mjw; some folks have tried Rowasa to help them get over that hump right before their next infusion. Not sure if that would help, but do tell your doc that you are a bit symptomatic the week before. I too had just urgency; but no blood.
