Does this type of fiber help with  soaking up the excess liquid in the colon or help with the mucus?
Very mild left sided (could have fooled me with the "mild")  UC. Started LDN ON 1/25/09, stopped LDN on 5/1/09 didn't seem to help. Supplements: Probiotics, Cipro antibiotics 4/29 for 8 days seems to be helping, no bleeding right now, advanced inflammation control

I'm not sure about the mucus, but I do know I prefer Benefiber chewables to Citrucel because it makes me slightly less gassy.  If you find you have a problem with that, I'd recommend the other.  (Plus, it tastes better and you don't need water).

You probably want Pysllium husks if you are looking for good fiber. Metamucil uses pysllium husks, and it does soak up lots of water, I don't know if it would make any difference on mucus.

Citrucel is an excellent fiber and is the only one that does not promote more gas...just be careful to not get the sugar free one as some of us cannot tolerate artificial sweetners well.

That or Pepto Bismol is probably your only hope.

Immodium will help for a short term treatment but please try the Citrucel (remember it takes a few days to weeks to show its best effect). Feel better :)

I have the intesinew too, I take it every so often. Are you having any luck with it?

If I have to get up early in the a.m. and need to be sure my tummy will be ok, I eat very lightly the day before. My doctor recommends Benefiber. I take a tbsp of that every day in about 16 ozs. of water. I think it has helped me a lot.
